I'm not sure what the link is about that you've posted?

Re: Project Ernie
The link worked yesterday, showing a Hijet rad. Price in $ though, so not in UK. My local place (Brighton Radiators) did me an exchange unit for £92 in Nov 2009

I'm such a copy cat! First smart car seats of logi (shame they won't fit in a pickup), now a gauge pod from El_Ventu! Cheap as chips this lot, cost me about £45 for both gauges and the pod. A high quality Chinese product! Just got to try and get the wiring to work next, then the engine, and the prop shaft, and the fuel tank, and the seats.... maybe by next summer?! I said that last year though
Re: Project Ernie
Before cutting the bottom corner off......could you not flare (strech) that area outwards, so in-efect it'll look wider at the bottom of the door when you look from the front.
If the door then doesn't make a seal with the bodywork, you could make a fillet for the doorseal to fit onto.
Just an idea .

Or possibly fit a smaller tyre? I reckon 165/65's would clear the door.

Re: Project Ernie
I take a fast read on the topic, but it is possible to swap engines on cars in UK?
Legally?
Really?
In italy we can't, or maybe, we can only paying a big fee and doing a new homologation card with a lot of work (and cost) from an engineer, than another control from the DMV office.
Some tuners goes to germany to make modified cars street legal.
You can import modified cars at 1/4 the cost of make it legal in italy.
For example, on my autocaravan, changing my original engine (Sofim 8144.61, 72hp, 2'445cc, pre-chambered diesel) with the "newer" model (Sofim 8144.67, 73hp, 2'499cc pre-chambered diesel) can cost me over 1500€ only for bureaucracy, without any "visit" from DMV engineers.
Swapping on it a powerful engine (like the direct injection turbo one, 92hp) is impossible because of "technical issues" in opinion of the DMV officier.
I think over 20% of older pre chambered naturally aspirated Fiat Ducato and Iveco Daily mount the turbo DI engine not legally.
And no problem with the MOT, because engine numbers are awkward to see (under the exhaust manifold, in a dirty part of the engine), engines looks very similar (the only one difference from outside was the turbocharger and the different position of injection pipes) and doesn't sound so different.

Re: Project Ernie
Yes you can pretty much do what you like at long as you don't alter the monocoque chassis of the vehicle.
Re: Project Ernie
Italy is a strange country.
I think if I live in another zone, I want only to escape to another country.
But I love alps and my region...
Maybe we can try to return under the state of Austria...

Re: Project Ernie
This is very interesting, thanks for the link - I will do some digging into some donor seats for project ernie to do a similar conversion.
Re: Project Ernie
Been doing some work on this today, now my backlog of jobs is cleared I'm going to put a couple of weeks into this.
Started with a huge workshop clear out that has taken 2 day, but now I can work in an organised environment.
Moved the pickup out into the yard so I can use the last of the good weather working outside.
First job is take the engine and gearbox back out again. Then I'm taking the head back off, getting the pistons swapped over for the high compression ones, getting a valve job done on one of the heads, and go from there.
While the engines out, remove all the brake hoses and redo them in copper with a different setup without the LSPV.

Taken the engine and gearbox back out this morning.
Just dropped the head (and another head) off to get a full refurb job done.
And I've take the 1600 pistons out, and also a set of 1300 pistons out. Taken them to my engine builder friend who is going to chemical clean them all, then put the 1300 high compression pistons onto the 1600 longer rods - so I end up with a 1600cc high compression hijet. It should in theory end up as "1.6 HD crankshaft with 1.3 HC pistons: 11.06:1" which is a pretty serious high compression engine.

Re: Project Ernie
This build isn't for boost - obviously by the mental CR - it'
I was thinking alot the lines of Nitrous
Well once I've got it all running and driving anyway
p.s. been on a right old shopping spree for the hijet

Re: Project Ernie
You have to lower the compression ratio Logi if you super-charge it. On 11 - ! it would wreck
the engine.
the engine.

Re: Project Ernie
Can't say I'm a supercharger lover, not that I have owned anything supercharged though.
I love the feeling of a turbo spooling up, the whole on boost/off boost game adds to the experience.
