Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
thanx guys.
last week i cleaned it realy good from the underside and especialy the wheelarches.
found almost no rust
i then sealed all the cracks and litle gasps with shell tixophalte .
then a layer bitumen coating with a brush.
and then a layer bitumen coating from a spray can to finnish it off.
i fixed the rubber/holes that lead the cables trough the floor.
i sanded it down and give it some new paint.
and also used some realy good sealant around where the cables go inside the van.
i also coated the lower part here because i think thats a spot that will always hold a litle water/dirt.
my verry comfy and supersafe springs
i sealed all the holes where i putt screws in to hold the mini-arches to but i havent taken pictures when i finnished
my doggy didnt approve off the camber
thats all for now folks

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
after letting my old mirrors ruin my mood way to many times.
tried fixing them with sealand and screws.
but there were parts missing of the plastic inside so they had to go.
they kept on foulding against my van if i drove harder than 70kmph
so i bought some new ones
and why not something different
i came across these oldskool fender mirrors.
the guy i bought them off said that they were 50 years old.
but new in the box.
they have got a smaller piece of mirror thats the only downside.
i tried pre fitting them just now and they seem too fit good.
i will post pictures when they are fitted to the van

I dig it. Are they supposed to be at an angle like that?

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
this seems to be the best position with the most sight
they are supposed to go on fenders so there is no right/wrong way to fix them

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
i also fitted a new battery and am going to refurbish my startermotor.
sometimes it doesnt want to start
when i then put it in gear and push it a litle front and back its fine again and will start normal.
i was a litle fed up with it and havent looked at it in a while now.
the battery wasnt that good so that died to because i didnt drive it for some time.
i had to put my dog to sleep because it was verry sick so i had other things on my mind latley.
but life goes on and after a while i got me another dog.
this is pierre the pug you will probably see him a lott in the comming pictureupdates

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
so after not driving it for about 2 months.
i fitted the cleaned up startermotor and a new battery.
turned the key and.... starts up like new
so checked the oil and coolant and there we went again.
drove it about for a while and was realy happy.
so back home cheked the coolant again..was fine.
i then drove a short while and wtf overheated
before i parked it up for 2 months it was fine..
i am getting tired of the hijet
it seems like when i fix one problem another pops up
i sold my previous fast old car because i was tired of going from 1 problem to another.
let me give you my list since januarie 2014 when i bought it
- replaced cylinderhead with realy mint one from a charade
- new headgasket
- new rockercovergasket
- new oilfilter
- new sparkplugs
- new distribution/timing belt
- new dynamo belt
- new waterpump
- new thermostat
- new hoseclamps
- new clutch
- new pressure plate
- new withdrawal bearing/thrust bearing
- new handbrakecables l+r
- new speedocable
- exhaust complete with cat
- cleaned up startermotor
- new battery
- new mirrors
- 4 new all seasontyres
- new rear bumper
- new rear backup light
- indicator
and then you have a large list of mods like wheels/seats/lowering/fender flares/undersealing arches and underbody etc etc
but that are things i choose to do so cant realy hold the hijet responsible for that.
i am going to let the coolant drain
then pressure test the coolant system
flush the hole sytem then look if i need a new radiator.
check the small metal pipes in the coolantsystem and clean them up.
check thermostat and replace if needed.
get 2 new radiator caps and prssure fill it like stated on the forum..with watering can.

Drain and pressure test - best advice in the game!
Use these thermostats, Most of the others on the market are pants. Make sure you fit it the right way with the wiggle pin to the top:- If you can't get a Nipparts one locally I will send you one.

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
I have never used a gates thermostat, but I have lots of problems with various ones from motorfactors.
I quite like the "Blueprint" brand thermostats but they are like £28.
I now import the Nipparts ones in bulk as I cannot buy them anywhere in the UK.
Problems I noticed with other copy parts, is the bottom flange is not in the right place, and the shield does not sit right or is missing. Also I have had lots of problems with sticking thermostats and ones which do no respond to the water temperature correcly.

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
so youre telling me i should buy the cheapest one i can get?
its not that i dont believe you but i think thats realy funny because i thought i should buy
the gates one because it was kind of expensive for a thermostat and a well known brand

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
opened it up..
reason for overheating number one
i fitted the thermostat wrong
the litle pin was at the wrong position.
number 2-- thermostat housing leaked.
doesnt there need to be a gaskett or something between the housing and the engine?
there was nothing there...plastic on metal.
