Suzuki Carry
Think I'm losing the faith here .
What's the pro's and con's, or which is the better van..... the Suzuki Carry v Diahatsu HiJet.
Are they the same engine/mechanical parts, what about parts availability etc.
Been to see a couple of HiJets on ebay and it's starting to do my head-in, not to mention the the cost of travelling to veiw them.
Why can't these ebay-mongos advertise things with a bit of honesty, aaaaaaargh!
Rant over, time to go for a beer .

Re: Suzuki Carry
Right my only knowledge of the carry is one in the breakers yard and it's similarity is thet the engine is under the seats and it's a mini van I think the floor height is to high compared to the hijet and they don't seam to have the high top either and not so many versions as for parts no idea but we find ours (a 1995 MPV, CB42 engine) has the worst parts availability as when looking there seams to be plenty of earlier and later parts might just be the bits we want are more in demand but it feels like there is less about.
Re: Suzuki Carry
I looked at the Carry before buying Myjet, as Rich says, floor much higher, roof lower, and afaik all Carry's are dear roadtax. But mostly, i couldn't see any motorbike(with the exception of my Monkeybike) fitting in the back.
But a Hijet, they look better as well

Re: Suzuki Carry
I had a Supercarry at the same time as one Hijet and found the Hijet to be more comfortable and more fun, as well as having more space. I sold it and got another Hijet. When I needed a 3rd van, I compared an Extol with the later Suzuki Carry (both with bonnets) and preferred the Extol. A few years later when I no longer needed the 3rd van I sold the Extol, as I never liked the driving position and the higher floor meant less cargo space.
For me, it has to be a Hijet (or Piaggio Porter).

Re: Suzuki Carry
I recon the Jet is better than the carry,
Not owned a supercarry but had a close look at them.
Same comments as above really, the floor has been increased in height so the wheel arches don't stick into the load space. This does make the floor space wider but lifting stuff in is harder. The low roof isn't as great as the hijet hitop.
I like the idea that they have a bit more crash space up front, but really in any mini van, if you stuff it into something at pace your in trouble.
Reliability, engines, rust.. pffft? not a clue!
But they do have PCD 4x100 wheel fitment so you can pimp it up easier.

Re: Suzuki Carry
carry has more info on manuals as haynes does cover them..
when i was looking for a van.. it was the carry or hijet that were my choices.
i know i can get a CBR600 in the back of my hijet coz thats how i got my project back home.
not sure on parts.. while i was on the carry forum, it seemed ok to get parts.

Re: Suzuki Carry
Cheers again.
Will looking at another Hijet later-on this morning.
At least this one is near to me, so not far to travel to see it.

Another wasted journey looking at a HighJet for sale this morning. At least I didn't have too far to travel this time.

Re: Suzuki Carry
You'll see lots of trash on your voyage to a nice hijet, I looked at about 10 or 12 before I bought my pickup.
Funnily though, when I bought my first one it was just round the corner and the first one I saw. £600, 21k miles, 2 lady owners. SOLD! - Thing is I didn't even want one, the advert just glowed at me in the local paper.
Like buses I tell thee'.
Good luck Oldie,
By the way how old are you? Can you rival Logi? He's almost getting a letter from the queen

Re: Suzuki Carry
Looks like I'll be buying my mates Hijet Van as soon as he's re-sprayed his Hijet MPV.
Body work and engine all ticketyboo, yahooooo .
Just got to wait now .
No way I could rival Logi.
It's only when the Mrs says "In your 50s now, why not grow-up and act your age", that I realise I'm knocking on a bit .
