Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
nice i love the avanzatos , got any pictures of it?
the charade is a swap indeed
the italian flag..?
i dont think so
its still a japanese car.
it says daihatsu hijet on my papers.
just because its built in itlay doesnt make it italian.
if that was the case loads of cars would not be japanese/german/french because they where not build in that specific country.
the below cars were produced in the netherlands
Mitsubishi Carisma
Volvo S40 / V40
Mitsubishi Space Star
Smart ForFour
Mitsubishi Colt
Mitsubishi Outlander
that doesnt mean you drive a dutch car if you drive a carisma.
but i would like to know more about the japanese-italian deal,
so if somebody knows more about it or has got a link with some helpfull info i would realy like to read more about it.

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
From what I can gather Piaggio built Hijets under licence, I was told that it was due to limits that foreign car manufactures could export into Europe, Toyota, Honda and Nissan to name few were up to there import limits so built plants in the UK to get more of their vehicles on to European roads,
Why O why they didn't build the to Japanese Spec and quality I do not know, they were based on the 7th generation Hijets yet the 9th generation Hijets were available from 1999
onto your other point
Honda built cars in the UK their Chassis plates say Honda Motor Co
Toyota built cars in the UK their chassis plates say Toyota Motor Co
Hijets built in Italy, their chassis plates say Piaggio Motor Co, Why? I have no idea,
out of intrest what does you chassis plate say?

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
Surely that is because Honda and Toyota own their own plants here therefore they are actually the manufacturers.
Because of the joint venture deal with Daihatsu / Piaggio the Hijets were built by a company other than Daihatsu (ie Piaggio) so the plates are just telling the truth about who actually made the vehicles.

i will make a short clip of the sound soon, it sounds like a v8

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
so many cool lowered hijets suddenly appearing. Love the Charades. I've got the last model and always bang on to people how it was one of the best small cars ever made. So much room inside. i'd love a gtti but they command pretty good money now, i'd also love a turbo diesel but needle and haystack comes to mind.

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
I've used Opel (Vauxhaul) Combo rear arches for my Porter. It needs allot of cutting and welding to make it fit. I wasn't sure if the Mini arches were big enough, so I bought these.

thanx, i did use shorter springs yes.
it does have some issues with being a bit bouncy
i drive it slowly when i am on a pothole filled brickroad
me and my friends are going to try and fit coilovers from a different car soon.
i will post it when we did it.
