backfire through carb Empty backfire through carb

My 1987 843cc hijet has started to backfire through the carb on cold startup, accompanied with a misfire, it gets a bit better once the van is warmed up but until then its a nightmare to drive. Are there any manuals for the carb? And what make of carb is fitted?
