Hijet carb needles Empty Hijet carb needles

I have put a new lighter freer flowing muffler off a older Toyota car with the tail pipe out the same location but larger diameter. I have also been running a k&n air filter. This leaves me wondering if I should make some adjustments to the carb. Can the needle in the hijets carb be shimmed?
