Hijet 1300 EFI 2004 starts and runs only for 4-5 seconds

Recently purchased Hijet and drove it 50 miles to home.
Started OK and ticked over fine for the few times I moved it
Now i havent cranked it for a week it starts OK but only runs for a few seconds then dies.
When the key is turned I can hear w whirling noise for 2 seconds then that stops and I turn the key and it starts then dies
I checked a plug and it was fairly wet with fuel and when it did run the exhaust fumes where quite rich.

Any ideas where I should start looking?

I removed the air filter and tried then but same result

Engine warning light is on but I picked it up with that on after checking the ODB codes whoch were for a O2 sensor fault P133.
It ran OK for 50 miles with light on.

Fuel guage reads correct

I'm supposed to get it in to a garage on Tues for a service but getting it there is my problem

Are you 100% sure of that? Give the tank a knuckle-tap - if it sounds anything like empty stick a can-full in. These gauges are notorious for being wrong.

Thanks PFM for the headsup. I'm going to syphon whats left in the tank out (as someone mentioned it could be water in the filter/tank) and stick 2 x 5l cans of fresh fuel in there tomorrow.
It had been stood/not used often for a long time before I purchased it.
I'll let you know how it goes
