Water pump fix
Raggy wrote:First now its power washed look exactly where leaks are, why blame head gasket when water is comming out elsewhere? Change radiator caps inside and out and make sure seats where they fit are in good condition. Sort leaks first and see if it works any better. If it is leaking from pump or seal to engine get it fixed. Sort all leaks, see how it goes before spending on engine dismantles for head gasket.
Had a quote from mobile mechanic to reseal water pump + antifreeze. £102. Not sure if that is about average price. Im waiting for another quote to include timing belt at same time
Can you tell me where I get rad caps from. ( Im presuming we are talking about plugs that go under rad?)

Re: Hi, new to the forum
I’m so grateful for you humour. Do you think I can do this. Iv never done any mechanical work. The thing is I want the timing belt done at same time. Can you imagine the mess I would get in. I had a look on you tube to see how to, but can’t find anything on hijet. If I had I would always have a go. Wish I could face my fears. I had difficulty downloading manual. Iv been on eBay to buy new rad caps but so many to chose from. You did say stay away from first stop. Is there any others you can recommend. Iv been sat on my butt all morning online trying to figure this out. I’m guessing it’s new gasket. Sealent and new bolts. Is it that simple really. I’m good at ceramics n interiors, but afraid of engines. If you have any further advise, I need someone to hold my hand if I attempt this. Thanks

The rad caps are Firstline FR74, you need two (and maybe a couple as spare).

Well I have just written out a long reply to your Post and it has done its usual Houdini trick so this is my last post on here until Auto Save is installed as on the Small Campers Forum.
