Hi everybody. I was given my Hi-Jet about four years ago because the man who owned it was retiring, and it wanted a number of jobs doing on it for the M.O.T. It's a 1993 carburettor model. Over the years it's proved it's weight in gold for transporting things around, and taking rubbish to the tip. I also restore Lambretta scooters, so it comes in handy to take frames and panels for painting etc. It's a brilliant little van, but the price of parts for it are horrendously expensive ! I have done a lot of work on my van, and I've had the usual problems with overheating. Although I'm no expert on the Hi-Jet, I am a professional mechanic by trade, and I hope to help out on here where I can. I'll post some pictures when I've taken some. Cheers !

You must be able to fit a full lambretta in the back, mine fits my cb500 and my dt125lc, but not at the same time!
Re: Welcome to the forum
Yes, I took my friend's newly restored GP 200 to the DVLA registration office in Chester. The front wheel of the scoot was up against the 'hump' behind the seats, and we put some old blankets over the back of the scooter, then closed the tailgate. It was wedged in very snugly, without any risk of damage. It's amazing how much you can get in the back of one of these little vans !

Newbie with a hijet
Hi all, my name is Graham, I am the proud new owner of a 1997 Hijet camper, I am slowly restoring it.
So far in total it has cost about £900, maybe a bit more, but for fun and going out in it's priceless.
If anyone can point me in the right direction for parts in Cornwall, I would be very grateful.
Thanks for a great site and maybe for 2016/7 we should get a show together, just hijets.
Thanks again
Graham

You'll have to forgive him Oldie for being half asleep. He's just got back from a 2500 mile drive round The British Isles.

Whoops - either should have looked at the date - or should have gone to specsavers - or maybe both

Re: Welcome to the forum
Hi, I haven’t been on this forum for some years and since then I still retain a love for Japanese micro vans but have moved on from Hijet to experience the predecessor Extol!!
Anyway long story short I have x3 Hijet wheels with brand new tyres. Purchased last year as I have owned Hijets for many years I know how expensive this rare size is to purchase new retail.
Would love to retain as potential spares but my Mrs has put her foot down! Although on eBay/Gumtree at present (have a look if you wish) I would like to post an ad and photo on here if it’s not too confusing!!
Any help appreciated.
Kind Regards
Raj
