And a final couple of pictures of the front with the new steering wheel and glove box lid coloured as well to match.

Hmmmm!! Not so sure about the dashboard adornments. Rather dodgy I would say!!

Yes, I know, Anne put them there. A likely story after you told me that you had taken up knitting lessons waiting to start the new job. Laughing

It all started after you said I needed flowers on my bonnet! They only made it as far as the windscreen Laughing
If you are going to have a mini surf van you got to have hawaiian flowers and the hoola girl is my copilot Betty (Dont ask why shes called Betty, I have no idea, the name just stuck!)

Hi Raggy. This thread is great inspiration for me, thanks! I was just wondering whether you have the sketchup file for the hijet that you would be willing to upload? I would like to have a play around with it to see how furnishings would fit, but am a complete novice on sketchup and can't draw the van very accurately!

Glad you find the write up useful, thats one reason I did it to give others ideas and of course remind me what I have done and to never do it again....joke!
I will have a look where it is and see about uploading it somewhere for you. Sketchup can be a bit fiddly but if I taught it to 8 year olds then you should be OK. Not all internal dimensions are available with the van, the van sides are just 2D drawings but the furniture should give you some idea. I will post up when I find it.

Perfect, thank you. I'll keep hacking away at sketchup in the meantime. If I get anywhere I will post it up on here as well.

Just a quick question about your carpet lining from megavanmats - would you still recommended it after a few years "on the road"? Also, did you buy the sound deadening layer from megavanmats as well?

Raggy,

Instrument illumination - I used the co-pilot with a small beam torch but your idea is better cheers

Did you put the strip behind the glass or just under the top of the instrument panel surround?

I put the strips behind the black plastic which is behind the clear plastic, just above where the slots are that let the light through above the dials. Working on a new white instrument background at the moment.
