993 EFI Brake pads
got a front set arriving this week as my vans brakes are well POO! will get the rears done next month..
any tips on changing the front set?
special tools needed?
assuming they are similar to bike brakes.. undo the holding pins (usually seized), drop old pads out,... some how move the calliper pot back in, slot new pads/pins in.. pump brake peddle to move calliper pots back out.....

Re: 993 EFI Brake pads
From memory think you just have to undo 2 bolts on the back of the caliper and then it slides off leaving the pads in the outer casting bit.
Might want to get a G clamp or a good sized set of plumbers grips to push the caliper piston back too. Build it back up with some copper slip for ease next time.
I do one side at a time and press the pedal after each, make sure you don't over spill on the brake fluid while your pushing back the caliper - someone might have topped it up.

Re: 993 EFI Brake pads
Sounds like your almost preying for problems they'll be fine, just make sure you find something that fits well and gives you some leverage.
Re: 993 EFI Brake pads
with the recent spate of seized bolts.... + never had these brakes off since i have owned the van.....
i think i'll wait till my bikes pipes are back/fitted/MOTed before i do this.. at least if a bolts buggered i can still get to work!

Re: 993 EFI Brake pads
I like your thinking. Amazing how sometimes having a backup plan ready can make the job go good in the first place
Re: 993 EFI Brake pads
had a little look today as am off..
wheel off
can see the brake calliper easy enuf, sprayed it with brake cleaner & got the wire brush on around the pins/clips.
got the large pin clip out no issues
but the thinner pin clip closest to you i cant see how that comes out with out damaging it.
& none of the pins moved & look well rusted in!...
didnt go any further & put what id taken off back on.

Re: 993 EFI Brake pads
you don't remove and then drift or drill out the hole and refit using some little R-clips.
