I have been offer a w reg hijet for £300. MOT is due. Owner said clutch is slipping and its done 70k but I have not had a proper look at it. Body work seems standard. Is there anything I need to look for ? had gasket, rust underneath etc etc ??? I am by means no expert and he said he is selling it at export price but don't want to sink £300.

Yes, that has pretty much everything you need to know.

Price does not always reflect the quality of the Hijet - I have seen a couple sell on ebay which I know personally to be absolute dogs, while I have see some real cheap gems around.

Mostly its all about rust, get one that has nice arches and inner arches and your laughing.

Overheating is just one of those things, to buy one that doesn't have issues is very very improbable!!
