My blower motor doesn't work and after removing the dash I have tested for power at the slider switch and got 12v.

Loom looks ok, connections all good, so I want to take the motor out and have a play.

I sat and looked at it for a while and maybe it can be removed from the R/H side of the plenum without dismantling the whole assembly.

I downed tools before attempting, so can anyone shed some light on this one before I get back to it tomorrow?
Just shifting a few things out of the way, it looks like it might clear.

I think I should step by step photo this one and post later.

One point to note on dash removal - the procedure found on this forum didn't mention unbolting the brake reservoir! - I did notice before trying of course...... Smile

Take the motor speed controller out.

Its on the drivers side of the heater box, its held in with one screw

And has a plug with 3 wires on it.

Should have 3 coils of wire on the face you can't see when its bolted in

They burn out, are very delicate and I do have a spare one.

Dont bother to remove the blower motor, just test the resistance of the motor via the connector.

Also you could put 12 volts to the blower motor connector to test that without removing it.

Ah yes - I saw that.

I will pop it out tomorrow - Cheers

I may find a torch and pop out there in a mo' actually!

It will bug me all night if I don't! LOL!

It has a good 12v supply so it must be blown coils really...... Smile

I may still pop the blower out to clean it - if it is easy.

While the dash is off I will be cleaning and painting rusty bracket bits and generally preserving and tidying things up.

Mmmmmm

Coils are clean and continuity is good.

Impedance is 2 ohms and 3 ohms.

Oh well - I will trace the prob tomorrow.......  scratch

Stand by - didn't get time today.

Where is the resistor mentioned?

I will be taking photos at this point and build a 'how to' for it.

If the motor can be withdrawn without removing the entire plenum assembly, then bonus!

I need to identify and name some bits of course, so help needed there. Will do by pm HJ.

HJ - can we break the forum down a bit to engineering areas like electric, brakes, starting, cooling etc?
That will help with specific posts and searches.
Look at the MDOCUK for the Delica.....a VERY busy forum which is packed with info.
If advise is required, I am sure the guys can help.
I am due offshore next week, but hopefully I can still keep in touch - sometimes comms are so bad I can't - we will see.... Smile

Sussed it!

Voltage at the motor was only 3.5v - mmmmmm

Gave the motor a 12v supply direct and it ran perfectly.

Chased it back and removed the control slider assembly.

It was a bit burnt and grubby, so sat with a bit of Wet 'n' dry cleaning the contacts and tracks.

Re-fitted and fired it up......all good!

Nice to have the dash apart for a shufty anyway - bit of cleaning and fitting new instrument cluster bulbs. Bit of corrosion control......courtesy light switches cleaned up- working now!

New aerial fitted.

Job's a gud'un!
