Tow bar fitting warning
Mounting a tow bar today something didn't look right, looked an others and thought same so carry on, something was bugging me so downloaded the PDF and it says Side plates should be mounted on the in side. On all pick ups I have seen the side plates have been mounted on the outside, who is wrong?

It would seem the writing says one thing yet the photo within the diagram shows the other!
I probably would put the plates on the outside.

I did, the photo shows how to mark the holes only, the gap between the frame and chassis was a little large so read the instructins and the plate does sit between the frame and the chassis, but how many are wrong ot there,

Re: Tow bar fitting warning
I would have thought the width of the tow bar assembly would give it away.
If you offer it up and there space for the plates well that says it all.
The one I took off my pickup had the plates on the outside I think.
Maybe they have changed it slightly?

Re: Tow bar fitting warning
Ha!! Glad it's getting used at last.
Now to stop me from spouting more crap from how I thought it was, and how it actually was, I have dug through my backups of data from previous computer installs and found a high resolution photo of the back of the pickup with the tow bar on it:-
It would appear the plate were on the inside and just the washers on the outside.
Did you ever find those bolts in the end, that you might have got zinc plated or something?

Ok shame the headers can't be swapped over as ours are fine but the core is knackered, the resitor pack is in the dash but can be reaced by removing the clocks and is held into the heater fan box with an allen head bolt, if it's a stuggle don't worry I was only thinking if some thing else was heading this way.
Re: Tow bar fitting warning

Is this what you were after? it worked but started to crumble when I took it out,
Can anybody advise me on this?
Thought I would change the plastic ware pad but lack of maintenance it had gone too far, the bottom one is off a pick up and the top is off a van,
now, are they different from new or is the top one a after market item?

Re: Tow bar fitting warning
Now I have had a look on the computor rather than my phone the top one looks like the arm on our 993 MPV but i'm not sure as I didn't take it off just moved it out of the way.
