Brake Calipers
Hi guys
Gone to change my front pads and the pins are totally rusted and unlikely to come out.
Any ideas where i can get some pins from? Found someone who has some second hand calipers without the pins.
Do any other cars fit?
Has anyone tried fitting other calipers?
Marc

Re: Brake Calipers
You can get them out!
Use the brake pedal power.
Wedge stuff in the caliper, undo the bolts, get someone to stamp on the pedal while you tap the caliper with a hammer to coax it out.
Once you get it parted, you can sort the pins out, wire brush them all up, straighten them out, then rebuild it.

How can you hammer them out? There isn't anywhere you can get to to tap?

Re: Brake Calipers
No mate, you just tap the caliper body while someone presses the brake pedal, with the bolts removed that hold the two halves of the caliper together.
Really your mostly using the force of the hydraulic pressure from the brake system, with a little shock energy from the hammer to the caliper body.
