Window seal replacement Empty Window seal replacement

Post by stevelav Thu Nov 01, 2012 1:16 pm

There is like a 1 inch gap on the bottom black rubber seal where the window winds down into the door, so when it rains water can run down into the door.
Is this just a generic part I can get from anywhere or am i going to have to seek a specific hijet one?

Thank you
Stephen

Yeah you can buy generic window seal strips in different profile sizes. There is a place called europa that does some stuff like this but i've not looked into what they have. Lots of other places do stuff like this too, especially kitcar and classic restoration specialists.

Very old thread I know, but the huge gaps around my windows seem to be because the doors are bowed. You can squeeze the outer and inner door skins and close the gap!

Any tips on how to remedy this? I can't see the point changing the window seals (on mine at least) when there will still be a big gap.

Where did Steve go???

Are you talking about front windows, and bottom or round the sides and top? Bottom should have a rubber over metal strip inside and out and the rest is a furflex strip. When would up, the glass should be snugly fitted all round by these. Maybe a pic of your gap Exclamation  might help.

Smile OK, I will photo my "gap" and post it here; "don't knock it till you've tried it" I think they say...

Don't know if its worth it, maybe I'm just being bloody minded. Have never taken on something like this before. Some people's mid-life crisis involves growing a pony tail, others buy a sports car and chase younger women. Mine is breathing life back into a beaten up Hijet.

You drive a Hijet, so the only hookers and coke you can afford would be rugby players and soft drink.

How about cocaine and prostitutes...in a (manky) Hijet? That would cover all the bases...

Utterly disgraceful!!  The moral standards of this Forum are getting lower and lower all the time.
To such a clean living young boy like me  it is a dreadful example. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
