Yes, mirrors are gone. I can do the door contacts but I need to know exactly which parts you mean. Can you take some pictures of the parts.

Sorry mate but my parts van doesn't have those on it. Just been out and looked.

I think I need some sliding door bits or maybe it needs adjusting, it doesn't close flush at the front door end anymore and is getting quite stiff to open and close, any ideas? (this is passenger side, never used the drivers side as it was siliconed up and haven't needed to use it)

Manuel - I guess those parts are only on the bus (anyone confirm that?) or, possibly, only for certain markets as, from your sig, I guess you're not in the UK? You're very welcome here though.

Daisy, you could be in a world of torment with your doors. First, have a look at the top and bottom guides - they should each have a small roller bearing which runs more easily if greased. They are on adjustable arms, so you could have a go and try and get the leading edge flush with the driver's door. Or, did you mean there's a big gap between the doors when closed?

As for stiffness ( ) it's worth checking the centre runner (rear edge of door) to make sure that bearing's ok, and if so give it and the runners a good smear of grease - it will prolong the life of your outer handles too.

@PFM You are right, I'm from the Netherlands. I really like the Hijet or Porter as I have one now. Unfortunately it's treated bad by his former owners.

In the meanwhile I discoverd that those contacts in the slidingdoor are for
a central doorlocking. I'll try to repair it because it could be handy.

Central locking?! Posh hijet mate.

Our MPV has central locking the sliding doors are controlled only but both front doors will activate lock/unlock when we got ours I didn't realise that it was fitted until I unlocked the passenger side instead of the drivers the fault was broken wires but I have since installed and alarm and on our RHD the central locking relay is just under the windscreen tucked up in the corner behind the glove box and it has a 2 lead connecter which is for remote opening by earthing one or the other out to lock/unlock hopr this helps.

Ah, so that is screen wash then, I'll work it out eventually.

The garage I use for MOTs are looking for a motor for a diesel they converted to petrol fromn a scrapper but the engine is to far gone how much do you want and can you put it on a pallet then I will let them know so they can decide.

You don't want this engine mate, its rattling pretty bad from cold. Sounds like big end wear to me.

Someone would go to all the trouble of fitting it, then not be very happy with how it runs.

Might turn out to be just tappets etc, but I very much doubt it. It doesn't have that sewing machine tappy noise, it has that slapping deep bellied sound you get from either piston skirt wear or big end shells.

Finding non cracked ones is quite hard.

sorry for the delayed reply. My broadband internet is down, and has been since yesterday morning, my isp spent an hour on the phone yesterday trying to fix my pc even though i kept telling them my computers are fine - you have a major network problem!! So anyway i'm typing this from my phone, i have got pictures but i can't upload them, the thermostat housing is here on my desk and its perfect. No cracks, no chewed up bolt points, everything is as it was made. I want £20 for it though as its the only one I have, thats including postage too. jonwood, did you have a broken cover that you tried to stick back together? Because I had the same on the passenger side (hit a gatepost) and a bit of superglue worked fine.

Someone had already had a go at sticking the cover on using something akin to no-more-nails (other brands are available ^_^) but it was now hanging by a thread. I took it off and used a silicone sealant which was supposed to be clear and flexible but was white and crap. I guess it's somewhere between junction 6 and 11 northbound up the M6.

What a shame its been lost as it could have been fixed properly
