Exhaust pipe
My pipe's fallen off!! Well, it's hanging there but not connected to the silencer. Rust so can't weld back on. Do I need just the pipe or am I going to have to fork out for more than that? Has anyone got what I need?

Re: Exhaust pipe
Find some pipe the right size and cut and shut or brace it over the top pipes don't need to be pretty.
Re: Exhaust pipe
"Find some pipe the right size..." Jolly good idea, but I'm a girl and don't have these useful things lying around. Sewing kit, vaccuum cleaner, cooking utensils. GIRL!!!
Maybe I do need a man in my life again.

the metal bit on the end should be about the right size unless you have one of those silly uprights or all plastic jobby.

Re: Exhaust pipe
I've had a good go at patching up with a little steel can that used to have concentrated tomato past in it, 2 jubilee clips and some gun gum. My neighbours have all helped by supplying tin snips, special scissors and buckets of encouragement (quite fascinated by a girly lying underneath the back end of a van and no ambulance involved... ). Anyway, it was looking pretty promising at one point but there just wasn't enough at the silencer end to get the jubilee clips clamped to so everyone involved agreed it was impossible and I went back to sewing the window covers. It was a great bonding exerience for all involved and bound to be the talk of the county at bar-b-q's all summer long.
Thanks for all the words of wisdom and insanity. I'm now exploring the ebay / local garage option.

Re: Exhaust pipe
I repaired the back box on Clare's mk2 escort with a bean can and a couple of Jubilee clips till I could get a replacement box and when I was changing it months later having found a replacement my mate turned up and then spent half an hour rolling on the floor laughing as we had a lot of novas with the bean can exit exhausts about.

Maybe you should have worn a pair of overalls instead of the short skirt

Logi, you might like to know that the most helpful, interested and involved neighbour was Vic from next door who's 78. He's still going strong 48 hours on
