Road Tax cost
can anyone let me know how much they pay 6 months- 12 months for a normal petrol 1.3 hijet?
if anyone has a "other" MPV type car, what do you pay on that?
i am looking to sell mine (998) for a better/newer/other MPV but need to check the running costs 1st.

Yes, if you read through the link HJ posted you,ll be no further forward. There is no reason why some HIjets are dearer than others. There are newer than 2001 Hijets with 130 a year tax, but not a lot, most are 210. Doesnt seem to matter about lpg or whether a van or mpv either? Best thing is to check the reg on any you see on the DVLA website.

Re: Road Tax cost
if i have to pay £200+ a year.. then may as well get a proper transit type van!
been toying with selling for a while, i want to try & get a full MOT on mine before i do to get a bit more for it.
then save up/research for summer, then get samat.
i do love the hijets & i know where i stand with them lol.

Re: Road Tax cost
My 993's, taxed in May and December 2011, were £130 each for 12 months.

Re: Road Tax cost
All Hijets, 993's 1300's and deisels up till X reg, 2001 are £130 a year.
After that it's a lottery, some are still £130, others(the majority) are £210.
There is no rhyme or reason as to what ones are what.
Doesn't seem to matter LPG, MPV, whatever.
To check, use the DVLA vehicle enquiry page to check.

Say if you owned an expensive tax one, I bet if you wrote to the dvla, including printouts of the DVLA Enquiry outputs for other vans the same year but in the cheaper tax band, and state that yours is in the incorrect tax banding and you wish it to be corrected to be inline with the examples included - I bet they'll do it.
If they don't then I guess they walking a line of discrimination, and realistically they are not going to put the other peoples road tax cost up.
Re: Road Tax cost
I don't think you will get anywhere with that one!
What seems to be happening is that when a new Euro Compliant engine comes out they drop the road tax to encourage those to be bought. My guess is that when that new engine is all that is available they put the tax rate up again except for the ones already taxed at the lower rate. (So that someone's tax does not shoot up).

Re: Road Tax cost
If you go digging on the forums, ford owners and saab owners from memory, lots of people have had cars in the wrong class, and when they have presented a well organised written request to the dvla they have changed the banding although they will not back date any paid tax.
I would love to see anyone here with an expensive tax classed hijet have a go
I'm sure they will get lots of help from tight yet helpful here (cough ) to help find evidence/documentation to support their request.
I read about a guy who bought a bike which turned out to be an ex ambulance bike or something that was in the tax class "nill". Whenever he went to tax it they wouldn't let him pay any money at all! After many letters etc he managed to get to pay his road tax like ever one else
