Hi from a Newbie
Hello, it's nice to be here. The search facility shows what knowledge there is, and like other specialist forums, it's all there.
In January, I purchased a 2003 Hijet pickup with both petrol and LPG options. Fixed onto the pickup is a Romahome camper conversion. It all seems to be a very sound little truck with only 30,000 miles on the clock. The seller told me that it overheats a bit, so I have all of the usual checks to go through there. Noticeably, I put more that a litre of water into the system via the expansion tank. That could not have helped the situation.
Anyway, no doubt I shall be asking the usual questions that I cannot find the answer to, but please excuse me as I am only an old fool that misses the obvious sometimes.
Stay safe,
Roddy

Top up water via the radiator cap, if the expansion tank is going empty there is a leak somewhere (probably causing the then overheat). Change both rad caps for new ones and totally flush the coolant system, bleed all air out fully and the see how it goes. Welcome to the forum

Thanks for the tip. The radiator was full, but I have no idea when the cap was last off. I needed a pipe wrench to shift it. I have not had a chance to properly check if the fan cuts in. I ony know what the seller said, and that was that she started driving with the cab heater blower on to stop the needle going high. Lockdown and winter have kept me away from properly looking at it.

Re: Hi from a Newbie
I have read the three page thread about overheating, but it seems to relate to the 995 and not my 1300. It makes sense about filling from a height, as my old Renault Trafic was the same. Simple question, is there a bleed valve on the heater matrix, or is it an automatic bleed? If there is a valve, where is it please?
I need to get on top of this before I try a long run. Thank you.
