Battery leads Empty Battery leads

Post by ryde_iow2 Mon Mar 01, 2021 3:15 pm

Disaster this weekend as part of the positive lead side as broken. The main positive lead back to the starter motor could do with replacing but the main issue is the the water/weatherproof connector that also connects to the battery clamp. Two wires come out of this connector and are terminated into an M5/M6 ring tag, this has been replaced in the past and leaves very little chance of being repaired. Any one know of connector below?

You don't need the connector  fit ring terminal to floating lead it was just another joint to go TU

Yeah I've solder a bit of cable to them and fitted some banjos to bolt straight to the battery terminal before.

So cut out the other half of the connector and solder in another piece of cable in with ring tag to battery clamp?

It’s a common issue, had it twice. Release the pins from the connector, replace cables totally, replace newly attached pins back in connector and then tape over joint when connected with self amalgamating tape (think that’s the name, it basically seals to itself and becomes a watertight seal).
