Ignition feed Empty Ignition feed

Post by PFM Tue Feb 05, 2019 6:51 pm

I thought this had been covered before, but can't find it. Where is a relatively easy place to tap into a feed when the key is in the ACC or RUN position? I have fitted an auxillary fusebox with 2 banks - one has a permanent live (for stereo, mainly) and I want the other to be ignition-fed for aerial booster, glove-box LED's etc so not a great amount of current. Woodie - if you take the trouble to reply PLEASE don't worry about pics, I don't want you doing too much while you recover from falling off the wagon!

The live feed to the OBD port is switched, but I don't know fuse rating. I notice that the cigar lighter socket is switched in this vehicle too -- they always seem to be able to cope with plenty of current.

That’s exactly what I have done, ran a feed to the Accessory one from the cig lighter and the permanent one I ran a direct feed from the battery (before anyone asks, fused).

That sounds like a plan, thanks guys. I only really use the socket for my tyre inflator - though I have an in/out temperature-cum-clock-cum-voltmeter there which will be wired to the accessory fusebox.

Gogo - think of how many people will be grateful to you for TOFTT on the wiper relay!
