Nice looking van. The colour and decals were quite rare. I bought one 3 years ago in mint condition from Bembridge for £200 with new mot, tyres and battery. Polished it up and removed the rear seat. All the seats were mint. Still got the rear seat.

I put it on Wightbay for £650 and had two people fighting over. The lady who bought it phoned me last summer and asked me if I wanted to buy it back.

I went to look at it and sadly it was filthy inside and out and her family of four legged horrors had absolutely wrecked the seats and door panels and scratched the paint on the tops of doors ( bottom of the windows) and it absolutely stunk of dogs. So I politely declined.

It had failed the Mot on the exhaust and both headlights. As luck would have it I had a mint exhaust system and also new 993cc headlights in stock, so she bought them and got the Mot and has still got it today. Always gives me a wave when she sees me.


It may be a long way to go Debz, but at £500 with 11months Mot take Barry's arm off. Get your purse out Girl.

I really don't know. I believe that Wight Motors the Daihatsu Dealer sold the highest number of Hi-Jets per head of Capita in the UK.

They were everywhere you went and still quite a lot of them about now. But sadly my reign of King of Hi-Jet Land came to an end with the fire and finally the tick bite in October finished me off.

I have got a few Jets to break up still and some to sell..
I will be putting a list of parts that I have for sale including 13 sets of pickup sides, 3 sets of which were unused and in near brand new condition. I have a long bed body and sides in good nick and 3 very good nearside headlights that I can spare amongst other things. Also going to be selling two of my Romahome bodies. End of an era - - almost.

Actually thinking about the green MPV I had seen the advert on Wightbay for £250 and it had been on for 3 days and I thought - that will be gone.
I was surprised to find that I was the first caller. So I shot over there and couldn't believe my luck. We agreed on £200 and I was going to pick it up on the next day, Monday.
In the evening he phoned me up and said that somebody walking by had seen the For Sale sign and was prepared to pay the £250. Despite the fact we had shaken on the deal I wasn't going to let it go for the sake of pride and £50 so I paid the full price. Was a very good deal nevertheless.

Just love my Hi-Jets. Almost 67 and still love driving them more than almost any other vehicles I have ever had.

Just want to try and get well enough to get my "Street Sleeper" as the Americans refer to them or we call a "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. A standard looking vehicle with a much more powerful engine in it. Ideally need to uprate the brakes and suspension first though.

To get a Hi-Jet done with a 1600 lump in it would be great fun. I have got 5 Grand Moves to get the 1600 engines out of, and one on the floor of my garage. Still a boy at heart, but the bodywork is rapidly deteriorating and so is the engine!!

I think I got your bug when I got my first Van. Love driving them woody and without this site wouldn't have had the info on what to do when something went wrong. Hopefully you get your road rocket on the road woody.

Woody I had a chap view and test drive the green Hijet on Sunday morning. He offered me £300 cash. I said no and he went away. He just comtacted me now and said could he have it for £ 400. I said no it's sold. He then said fine I'll pay the £500! I said no it's sold money's changed hands the deals done ! He's just text and said I'll give you £550 then £600 now it's £650! I said it's sold to debs! End of!!

I am like you there Barry. I have been in the same situation on numerous occasions. I have given my word without a deposit and stuck to it. Then I have been let down.
But it hasn't stopped me from doing it again. On a small Island like this you can't afford to Welch on deals.

I have always been known for being one of the rare car dealers that are honest.

Last year with the Strokes, the Fire and the Scepcis-Cellulitis stay in Hospital I had so many offers of help from customers and friends alike. I was really moved by offers of help.
