1.0 engine removal
what sort of job is it to remove the 1.0 CB-42 from i hijet mpv? my engine has blown it's head gasket, so i want to do a full on rebuild from the sump up, also fit a new rad, and bigger high power fans
do i need to remove the sub frame? i've got a pit and ramps so access isn't a problem

Before you try an engine rebuild, just try and see if you can actually buy shells and rings for that cb41 / cb42
Just do the head gasket lad, its not worth spending big money on.

OK cheers. Hopefully its just a head gasket that's at fault and nothing at the bottom end, will phone a few friends on the parts trade and see if I can get shells/rings etc

Coming from a lad who has rebuilt a fair few engines, I have learnt from my mistakes and if possible I just buy a decent second hand engine! Head gasket jobs and broken valves I'll always do. But if an engine needs shells then by the time you get the crank done, buy parts, buy oil pumps, end float rings, counter ballance shaft bushes and chains etc etc, you end up with a big fat money pit.... then if you balls something up and it rattles after 100 miles you could cry!

Now whilst I would never question your ability to rebuild Hijets, I have to take exception to your definition of the word "lad"........

If I discover the engine needs more that a head gasket, the block will be turned into a coffee table
I'd find another engine which does have a good bottom end and do the head on that
Also doing the clutch when I'm at it
