New member 1.3 vs 1.0
Pants! iv put his in the wrong section! could admin please move thx.
Hi, im a new member im yet to get myself a Hijet but im on the search. Me and my Girlfriend would ike it for weekends camping ( we don't need alot of room) and as a general runabout, so im looking at the MPV version as it seems to be the most versatile. There are a couple on ebay at the minute, one is a 1.3 with 80k on the clock but is a bit scruffy, the other is a 1.0 with only 34k but has an overheating problem. im unsure of which to go for as im a competent home mechanic so the overeating doesn't worry me but the 1.0 engine might be a little too sluggish for me. Has anyone compared the two?
here are the links for the ones on ebay. cheers. Mike

Re: New member 1.3 vs 1.0
Hi welcome, we were looking at the 1.3 but it was too far for us it would have been a up grade to as we have the 1.0 at the mo and the other one was to far away with a problem that may or may not be straight forward as the question is why has it got a air lock if it were round the corner it would have been a different matter.
Re: New member 1.3 vs 1.0
At the end of the day, the hijet isnt a very powerful vehicle in either engine...
the 1.3 I think produces around 60hp
the 1.0L is around 48hp.
But they have the advantage, that they are fairly light...
I have a 1.0L and its great
It will do ~80mph on the flat if you push it.
But a month or 2 ago, I had 12 bags of sand (25kg each) and 4 bags of cement (also 25kg each), so 400kg in it.
And it still pulled to 60mph with ease, and even on a long hill out of a 30mph village, it accelerated to 55mph easily...
I havent been in a 1.3 but I reckon it would be nippier, but the 1.0L has a 3 cylinder engine, so its surprisingly grunty
Economy, I heard the 1.3 is a little better, but I get 30~35mpg from my 1.0L, and I thrash it to be perfectly honest
Either way though, enjoy it

Over-heating
Beware of underestimating the dreaded over-heating in Hi-jets.
It might be worth checking out how to bleed the system before you go.http://wp.me/pVul6-1D
Cheers Emma

Re: New member 1.3 vs 1.0
Mine overheated when I got it (well it started too )
I kept topping the coolant up, but got fed up.
So I got a pot of K Seal, and poured it into the radiator.
That was a while ago now
No problems since...
I highly recommend K Seal to anyone. Its the only fix that actually seems to work, and not make matters worse...
