Stuck in second gear

The Hijet is so easy to manoeuvre into tight spaces , it's what i've been doing for ages now, except today i nearly squeezed him into a nice little spot and then it wouldn't change gear, aarrrrggg, oh, so i had to drive off home , not far , in second, here he waits while i scratch me head. I had a quick look, just need a little pointer into what it may be, clutch is good, it maybe selection or something, any clues people, much appreciated>:}
