Getting diagnostic information from the Hijet ECU
Not a question as such, thanks to a certain forum member who has sent me the list of diagnostic flash codes, it has motivated me to work out how to get the diagnostic information from a 1300 hijet.
I currently cannot find the proper diagnostic connector block as pictured in the manuals and the sticker on the passenger door, but there is a work around. I took my ecu appart and found the right pins on the main connector blocks. Its the brown wire in the middle of the right hand connector. Simply short this to the ECU's metal case, then turn the ignition on. It will flash instead.
I have wrote an article on the daihatsuhijet.co.uk website here:-

Re: Getting diagnostic information from the Hijet ECU
Nice write up the only thing I can add is to use a short bit of wire and fit a female non insulated spade terminal to each end other wise you have to fiddle with the ends until they stay in the block connector where the spades go on and stay till you want them off.
Re: Getting diagnostic information from the Hijet ECU
I just used a short bit of wire with two bullet connectors on the ends which I squashed to bodge them into spade connectors. Works fine. I'm now tempted to leave one end of the wire in the connector block so it doesn't get lost.
