Re: Other Vehicles?
This thread does seem to prove that the average hijet owner has far from average motoring tastes.
Loving the little SJ, they are really good off road and put all the landys to shame.

Re: Other Vehicles?
I used to have a Lada Cosak many moons ago, and that would put many Land/Range Rovers etc to shame. Mega cheap too......

Re: Other Vehicles?
I had a 1978 Series 3 Landy
with a early 90's Discovery 200Tdi tuned to ~130bhp and probably close to 250lb-ft of torque
with a set of 235/85R16 BF Mud Terrains (the newer KM2 style), I never got it stuck......
would go anywhere without hesitation
I miss my landy

I used to own one of these, Subaru Sumo 4wd...

Not quite on a par with all the others, but I never once got it stuck on any terrain.

Realistically, if we didn't we would buy a far more sensible van.

whats not sensible about the Hijet?
its fairly economical, fairly cheap to maintain, comfortable (even for big stocky blokes!), goes fairly well....
it has more cubic space in the back than a Transit Connect van.....
it has good visibility (better than most vans of its 'size')
its entertaining to drive, and will fit in places others can only dream off :p
whats not sensible about that!

its fairly economical, GRANTED, BUT SO ARE MOST VANS THESE DAYS
fairly cheap to maintain, REALLY? NOT WITH DAIHATSU PRICES
comfortable (even for big stocky blokes!), MINES IS NOW
goes fairly well....BUT NOT ROUND CORNERS......
it has more cubic space in the back than a Transit Connect van.....BUT THE TRANNY CONNY TAKES TWICE THE WEIGHT
it has good visibility (better than most vans of its 'size') I NEED TO SLOUCH DOWN TO SEE OUT THE WINDSCREEN
its entertaining to drive, and will fit in places others can only dream off :p LIKE YOUR POCKET
whats not sensible about that!
Don't get me wrong, i needed a van and could've bought something else but i liked the Hijet and it was practical enough for my needs, but the real reason i bought one over another make was i've always liked quirky thngs, mine's was bought solely to shift stuff from our house renovations, as cheep as chips, no frills transport. It's now got alloys, bucket seats, sports steering wheel, CD player.......

Re: Other Vehicles?
quirky vehicles are always fun
but hijets are more practical than most small vans
as for CD player...thats just for some music :p
alloys....well if you like them.....
steering wheel.......I never thought about changing mine
as for the bucket seats....well I dont really fit bucket seats properly
I'm a bit too big and stocky! :p

Boo, I loved your old T-Bar, it was a beauty...
Mk1 MR2's are much better than this shiny new one, the rust makes them lighter
Sold it to a youngster, last words of wisdom i say; "be careful, the back end breaks away quickly, you need to be on it to catch it"
Somehow i guessed he was thinking than this old fart didn't know how to drive quickly anymore
The joy of youth...........

Re: Other Vehicles?
A bloke I used to work with had the newer model & managed to do a 180 & crash head on into another car, leaving the works car park in front of about 500 people.

What a shame Logi
They are a bit of a handful when they let go. Not for the inexperienced or stupid.
