Other Vehicles?
As was mentioned on another thread, there seems to be a bike - Hijet relationship here? So what shares the garage/drive with your Hijet?
Here's my Hijet's friends.
& the wife's Clio

Re: Other Vehicles?
I'm in love with that T bar MR2, looks like a very clean example. All the ones i've been around have been rotten in so many places.
Those monkey things scare me, a friend has one with a Takegawa engine or something or other, I tried to take it for a spin up the road but i couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground..... SCARY!!!
What is this the Kwaks owners club? I'm ashamed to show you mine as your bikes are so much nicer than mine

That's the newest, cleanest bike that I own.
As the sun only shines when I'm stuck at work, it doesn't get used very often.
The others are in much worse condition.

The MR2 is a 3 owner, 80,000 mile, never been welded, spare never seen tarmac one It'll need a couple of wee patches next year though, mostly cos it's been sitting in my mother's drive for about a year I was going to tax it for the summer this year but was really busy with work and then highdiving It may get sold though as i've got my eye on something else
My monkey has a 110cc engine, it wheelies fairly well too
Get a pic of yer bike up, bikes are good, clean, dirty or whatever

I bet yours isn't as bad as this...
It's not turned a wheel since 1999, when the alternator packed up & I had to push it 3 miles home.
But I'll never part with it, as It's the first big bike I ever owned.
I will get around to restoring it.....one day!

Re: Other Vehicles?
Bet you had a sweat on pushing that beast for 3 miles. I guess the love affair didn't survive that.
Ready? I'm shyyyyyy
Well 2 years ago the bikes looked like this:-
and now my garage looks like this:-
Heres my tatty old ZZR400 that I despise as its too wide between my knees, the handle bars are too low and it's so heavy to move about.

Re: Other Vehicles?
This is like a game of snap! Scarily more that just coincidental with all these kwacks and yams. I'd really love one of those TT-R's, i've been hunting hard for an xr250r but now I think I'll have to get a TTR just to keep the game going
not the leader of the pack!!!!!!

still gets me through the winters though 1984 gs 125, runs like a tank, thinking of stripping it down this winter and turning it into a off road fun thing for ma young lad, trying to get him into the trials. have some spare handle bars and mudguards, dont know though as he needs to show he's keen and i have had this for over 20years, i know i should have looked after it more but it just keeps rolling along....... tend to spend more time looking after the BETA..

Re: Other Vehicles?
Disk version - it was the favourate bike I've ever owned funnily, and mates take the piss out of me for feeling like that. Me and that bike enjoyed some nice days in north wales, she never let me down, good on fuel and comfortable ride position. Best £500 i've spent on a bike.
Re: Other Vehicles?
Deffo a bike-Hijet link here, though i'm glad to see the GS as it was getting a bit spooky(had a GSX750 once though)
The TTR is an excellent traillie, i'd recommend it. Though strangely enough i've got a notion for a trials bike.

I'd be more tempted to strip & tidy it up a little, then keep it as it is or sell it in Spring. Prices for 1980s learner bikes are on the up.
That Beta looks like a lot of fun.

Re: Other Vehicles?
You could always whip off the fairing & fit some risers & straight bars for a more comfy riding position.
That would make it a bit lighter too.
I'm a bit biased towards Kawasaki, as you can probably tell.

yes, they are a good bike
just a little low on power for me (I'm big, heavy and love vehicles with obscene amounts of power :p)
oh....and the fact it blew its head gasket (quite a fiddly job in the frame)
turned out a new rad was needed, but it was more than I paid for the bike! :O
so I bought a Honda FX650 Vigor
handled well though, and stopped surprisingly well with HH pads and braided hoses
wouldnt mind taking one on a trackday.....might show up some posers

Re: Other Vehicles?
Theres a cb500 race series, proper budget standard engine affair. I'd love to have a go but I'm crap at going round corners on two wheels Goes to show riding bikes isn't hereditary as my uncle has made a life time career out of racing on two wheels
Standard production cb500 racing has to show the hero's from the trust funders, throw all the money you want at one and its still just a commuter.
Got to say I didn't know the FX650, but now googling it I want one! This would be such a nice halfway house between the XR250R that i'm looking for and some kind of road bike. Next time i'm down at DK motorcycles i'm going to be hunting one out.

Re: Other Vehicles?
Yes, the CB500 club race does look fun
just a bit far away from cornwall :p
as for the FX650:
http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/Gallery/Honda%20FX%20650%20%20%201.jpg
thats the same colour as mine was
then theres the slightly older version, the SLR650:
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-duUbdwYF5bo/ThAjLx2_O-I/AAAAAAAADM8/AZy-8u_BjFA/s1600/honda_slr650+%25289%2529.jpg
and then theres the newest of the lot, the FMX650:
http://www.raptorsandrockets.com/images/Honda/Honda_FMX_650_d1-014r.jpg
but they all are basically based on the old NX650 dominator:
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_5iduTztp-QQ/TBVqxWEgJqI/AAAAAAAAAC4/sIPme_VGjjU/s1600/NX650-98.jpg
good engines, apart from the fact they like to kill the exhaust valve stem seals.....
some people have done 20,000 miles without them failing, others have barely managed 3,000miles....
but its not a hard job to do really
I still miss my FX650 really
it was a little loud though, when I ditched the twin heavy silencers for single one!
it could be heard several miles away
just a bit far away from cornwall :p
