Are door mirrors repairable
Does anyone know whether Hijet door mirrors are repairable?
In my case the driver's door mirror vibrates loose after travelling over a concrete motorway surface and ends up pointing down at the ground. This has happened twice now in the same place and is becoming a bit of a problem. I have tightened the screw up but it happens again.
Is there anything I can do or is the thing non serviceable? (It does look that way to me).

Re: Are door mirrors repairable
is the bolt working loose?
if it is, replace the nut with a nylon locking nut.
if its running out of travel, try putting a couple of washers on the bolt
the other 'solution' is to modify the ball itself....
a solution that does usually work well, is to remove the ball from the cup and using a piece of coarse sandpaper, rough the ball up a bit (enough to make the surface rough, but not enough to remove much material)
that usually stops the ball from moving as easily.....

Re: Are door mirrors repairable
Our passenger side is broken and the wind folds it back after a couple if goes at fixing it I found that the clamp part was split (had to take it off and turn over to see) but now I have wound a couple of self tappers up the gap to tighten it's grip, it was ok round town today on a run at the weekend so will see how it goes.

My mirrors were a little bit saggy on my Van. I took them off. Then sat in the van with a friend stood outside. I turned the mirrors upside down and flooded the ball sockets with superglue. Then swiveled them about as to spread the superglue. Then got my friend to screw the mirrors on whilst I angled the mirrors to see behind. They've lasted 7 months so far... You can move them, if a bit stiff.

My drivers mirror is going into the saggy stage.
When I hit about 70, the mirror points at the ground

Drill a 6mm hole through the mirror body next to the ball, bolt it up, takes away the floppiness
(sadly only works on mirrors.... )

It's something I'm looking into, had a look at a Daihatsu Terios, their mirrors don't look too far away from the curve on the Hijet door. And they're electrically adjustable and the wee switch looks like it'll fit in tye square blank of the Hijet dash. Sadly I'm too busy at present to follow it up.
