Floppy Mirrors Empty Floppy Mirrors

Post by Marcfe Sun Jan 13, 2013 10:51 pm

Anyone got any tips on how to get my mirrors to stop flopping around?

The screw bit is broken Sad

Thinking maybe a glue of some sort?

Have been known to grip fill/glue my own ball adjustment up in the past. Laughing

I have yet to try it but as I have one loose mirror it will be soon but I think a small wedge pushed up the casing and maybe a securing cable tie should do it I have had some self tappers wedged up the slot which worked for a while although I think they have fallen out I haven't looked if it works I will post up sizes unless someone else beats me to it.

Floppy Mirrors Empty self tapping screws

Post by pww Mon Jan 21, 2013 9:12 pm

Had same problem of plastic "gripper" broken. Undo the bottom nut and withdraw the shaft (OOh Err missus) try to keep the mirror roughly in the same position on the shaft while turning upside down, srew one or two self-tapping screws between the plastic retaining clip and the ball. With any luck the screws bite into both enough to hold the mirror in place - unless you slam the doors hard! You should still be able to move the mirrors to adjust. Worth a try

I'm going to try and use a small hi speed drill bit and then tap a thread into the ball and then bolt it

Floppy Mirrors Empty mirrors

I remove the mirror totally leaving the metal ball - clean both parts - the metal ball then plastic cup it sits in.
then go the pound shop and get a tube of apoxxy resin, mix it up and stick it in the right place. - usually lasts untill someone knocks it out of place - which is highly annoying loool/....
