non starter when engine management light not illuminated
Hello! V reg 1.3 efi being a little temperamental with the starting. On turning key, if the engine light is not illuminated, it won't turn over. Put it in gear and rock it, the light illuminates and starts no problem. Also, cutting out intermittently when driving. I'm thinking electrical but where is the best place to start? Thanks :-)

This is a classic case of broken wires on the battery terminal.
Look in the boot at the top of the battery.
There are two little wires on the + red terminal.
Get someone sat in the drivers seat with the ignition on, while someone moves the wires about.
You will find it cuts in and out.
To repair, cut them before the dodgy bit, join another bit on and connect to battery terminal.

Re: non starter when engine management light not illuminated
Hi everyone. Still having this problem. No change specifically when playing about with battery terminals. Has progressed to sometimes no ignition lights at all. I've read about there being an earth under the van/engine, haven't located it yet though.
On a similar tack, had engine replaced on my S reg EFI. Was running fine (about 3 weeks) but now non starter when warm (to be precise, eg can put petrol in at petrol station after being on a run, go in and pay and will start when I get back (10 mins?) if I park up for half hour or so it wont start. Is fine from cold) Heating up causing a short somewhere? Where to start Thanks!

Re V reg - you may also need to look at the small wires where they exit the battery box and also just ahead of that, which is where they corroded on one of mine.
