Changing seats to double bed.
Hi all,
Ok so my new Daihatsu Hijet romahome is sitting outside and I've had a brief look inside the pod.
I think something might be missing to change the seating into a double bed.
Can anyone tell me what is needed to do this please.
Thanks
Sally

Yeah it's here now. It's a wicked little thing.....bit weird to drive! Lol
Found some bits of wood under the seats that go across to make the bed. There's just no table top, but that's fine, I'll make one.
Thanks

Re: Changing seats to double bed.
I have new loads of the proper table hinge brackets and the proper folding support leg too. Also the opaque plastic cupboard door
catches. The Barn door top catch outside. Sliding door and drawer catches. Electric Water pumps, handles even the telescopic opening window supports. If it hasn't got opening windows then it was made before 1987.Everything new.
If you look on the top left of the aluminum door frame by the hinges it will give you the production number and the last two numbers are the year the pod was made.
The bed is dead easy to make up. Put the three pieces of wood in the moulded recess's, slide the four seat bases to meet in the middle and drop the low seat backs down flat making up a big bed- - more than enough for my six foot body. It will sleep three across and room for a child up in the Luton.
Any questions just email me, text me or phone me. hi.jetmaniow@gmail.com

Re: Changing seats to double bed.
It will most likely be off a 550cc Honda Acty Pickup less likely off a Bedford Rascal. If it is pre 86 then certainly a Honda.
In 1987 they changed the body style - - the (Mk5)dramatically and fitted opening side windows and all the cupboard doors and the removable table were all made from fibreglass.
There is an amazing man called Barry Stimson who has built so many amazing vvehicles including the Stimson Scorcher and a six wheeler Mini Moke/Scamp style vehicle called the Safari I think.
I worked with him for a month at his works in Portsmouth when I was Service Manager at Romahome. He built the very first Romahome and also coined the name Romahome. Every design of Romahome you see on the road was designed and prototype built by him and then sold to Island Plastics, latterly renamed Romahome.

Re: Changing seats to double bed.
Thank you for this info Woody. Very interesting.
Can I get windows that open for it?
Also can these windows be repealed without taking them out?
Regards
