From the South of the Netherlands Empty From the South of the Netherlands

Post by JohanNL Sun Apr 13, 2014 12:33 am

Hello,

Johan here, from the south of the Netherlands, Heerlen to be precise, nearby Maastricht.
I'm about to buy a Hijet from 1998 1.3 EFI.
And if I add 300 euro's more, I can even have a 2000 1.3 EFI with it which doesn't start.
The van is simple, white colour, and it will be my first.
I had a little testdrive with it today and to me it's all new so I can only simply check how the engine runs, listen for weird sounds and that kind of stuff.
But I think the van is fine, and after selling my Volvo, I will go for it.

Hope I'm gonna have a fun time on the forum and hopefully I will like having a van like that.

First question:
I'm reading a lot about problems with the cooling-system.
If those problems can be solved with replacing a headgasket or a radiator/ some hoses, then that's not a big problem if they would be on the van I'm gonna buy.
Or are there other, more serious things that can cause cooling-problems?

Hello, Smile

Gotta agree with Scotia, parts are pretty hard/expensive to come by in most countries.

Yes, I'm gonna buy them both, to be more precise, this week I will pick them up Very Happy
It is indeed the one from the link.
Thanks for all the welcomes, I hope I will find my way here on the forum.

It will be the first van I'm gonna own.
I've driven many cars and vans from all brands by now, and I'm really looking forward to drive this one.

Welcome Johan,
It's great to see another Dutchman around here. I think the first Hijet meeting in the Netherlands will be a fact soon. :-)

If you buy the second van and the frontbumper is all right and you don't need it .... It's sold!

Please let me know if you're interested.

Hoppa, not gonna buy any of his vans.
Today we agreed on a price, took the trip again to get there, he wants to drive my car, and all of a sudden I have to pay hundreds extra..
Grabbed my keys and f*cked off..
So both vans are still there, and by the end of this week I will check for an other one, also in that area but from a different (st/d)ealer..
I'll keep you updated.
For anyone else interested in one of the vans I was gonna buy, see the link in the second post.
The white one could go for 1400 and for 300 extra there was a red one which doesn't run, same engine, 2 years younger, red.

wow that sucks  Mad
thats not verry nice of the seller.
(didn,t i read a simmilar story on here recently?)

your links didnt work so i posted them up again below
A http://auto.autoscout24.nl/Daihatsu-Hijet-10-Van-APK-07-03-2015-Benzine-Grijs-245844091
B http://auto.autoscout24.nl/Suzuki-Carry-13-16V-Benzine-Blauw-248824284

i would definitely go for the suzuki if it didn,t have those huge miles on it. 278.647 km  affraid
i think the hijet is way overpriced.., and has a tiny enginesize

i know your pissed of about the other seller but isnt it a better idea to wait for something different to come up?
i am getting the feeling that because you were so excited to buy one, and it didnt work out.
that you now are rushing to get another one...?

next month a lot of people get their vacationbonus
thats always a verry busy car/van trading time  albino

""edit""
(i think the carry is already gone if i see the amount of bidding on it)

Wow, the Carry went up a lot indeed.

And maybe you're right about being enthusiastic.. Wink
I saw the one with the scooter on the roof btw, I think you mentioned that in a different topic.
I could pick it up for 1200 I heard, but it's a bit far to first go and check, while on the pics I think I can see some rust already.

What parts rust easily on these vans?
Bodyparts are not really a problem to weld, but the chassis-stuff is a bit shitty when that's rusty I think..

I will indeed take my time a bit.
How much should the blue/grey van cost you think? The one asking for 2500..
I thought that the price isn't that bad, plus I think for a small 2000 he will give it away, usually works like that.

Thanks for adding the links.!

From the South of the Netherlands Empty Aaand they're mine.. :)

Post by JohanNL Sat Apr 19, 2014 4:18 pm

So, today I sold the Volvo for a lot less than I hoped, but finally it's gone and I want to close that chapter.
New chapter: A Daihatsu Hijet 1998 1.3 EFI engine...

First question:
A green pull-switch, next to the switches for rearwindow-heating and foglight, what's that for?
I will post a pic soon..
The van you all can see, for now, on the link from Marktplaats in the second post in this topic.

As I wrote I also bought the red 2000 van, with the same engine.
It's in a not that good condition (optical) and it doesn't run.
When I have it at home I will post some pics of possible parts to sell..
Plus it will be a handy one to have for parts for myself.
