Nice and clean underneath! Was it also this clean when I was laying underneath your car on the side of the road?
Did you finish all the welding by now? If it's finished than we can plan a tour together

Nice job!
Did you spray the rising sun with normal paint? Or did you use plasti dip so you can remove it if you want to?

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
time for some updates
the carry past the MOT yesterday, like last year without repairs or anything.
because its now 31 years old it will have to go for an MOT every 2 years.
so i have to go again in 2019.
("oldtimer"rules in the netherlands for cars older than 30 years and before 1987 i think)
i bought a sprayset and am going to dip the van myself
its going to be matte white, like this color
i know the pros and cons and have been researching it a lott the last year.
i know it cant compare with a regular paintjob but fuck it it cost me 200euro for the dip and 150euro for the sprayer
its worth a shot i think
i bought some wheels to
i think they are called daimond racing smoothies
14 inch 6,5J they came of a datsun 240Z
they need some tlc and some nice new flatter tyres like this
still thinking about what to polish or to paint

Suzuki Carry is 4x 114,3?
Toevallig vandaag voorbij zien komen https://link.marktplaats.nl/m1168633745
But you already bought a set, so mustard after the meal. No pearlescent glitter powder in the dip? Gemiste kans!

yes 4x114.3 but no worries i like the ones i bought much more.
its realy funny because the add you posted is actually the guy i bought the smoothies from
i drove 400km to get them.. on the busiest day on the road in 10 years... it was awful
the pearl colorshift would cost me the double amount of dip and around 300 xtra for the pearls..
sprayer 150 + dip 450 + pearls 300 and if you add things like degreaser etc etc it would almost cost me 1000-1100 euro
so that would cost me as much as a regular paintjob.
and seeing as this is my first try at dipping it would be smarter to choose a safe easier color to spray.
so why gemiste kans... why so negative lex.. is it that time of the month
when are you going to do anything to your hijet?.. would love to see some updates

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
Pearlescent pigment isn't that expensive at the Chinaman shop as far as I know... 50 euro / kilo? Not sure about the quality and shipping though.
I'm too busy fixing other peoples cars to help myself. And then there's an L300 that's not having its decade. Perhaps this year I'll be able to screw on the massive bull bar to the Hijet. Planning on going to Japan Classic sunday this year? Maybe I'll fix it a bit earlier to be able to have something to show... Not sure what car to take either...

chinaman shop.. kilos..
you obviously dont know anything about dip and pearls ..
its 50 euro for 25 gram.. you will need 75 gram per sprayable gallon.. the van will need about 2 gallon..so around 300 just for pearl/colorshifts.
i dont think the van will be ready for jcs this year.
i would have gone but things are taking longer than i expected, and i dont want to rush things
so chances are small i will be there with the carry..but i might go with a regular car..its a cool event

I'm not sure what drugs you're taking, but that's dirt cheap even for glue to sniff.
I only know that the Chinaman sells everything chemical, and they sell it cheap. I don't know anything about dipping. I bought a few samples a few years ago, but never got to try it out. Later I bought a 200g bag of laser glitter and used it in regular black paint on the hubcaps of my gfs Micra. Came out pretty impressive, especially when you walk past when the sun is on it.
I'm not sure where I put those samples, if I find them I'll try them on a set of spare hubcaps. Chameleon and color changing in sunlight stuff...
https://youtu.be/SMGzzz2jf2s
A video from when I still knew where I put them...
75 grams per gallon, what is the ratio when using regular European volume units? 75 gram per 4 liter?
-edit- My Hijet went under the low coolant mark, where do I top it up again? I recall you telling me to be very careful where to put it, but I of course forgot where exactly...

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
yes and thats my whole point..
you know nothing about it but keep giving your opinion.
you keep comparing apples to oranges
regular paint is something totaly different!!
i am talking about dip and dip colorshifts and dip prices.. that has nothing to do with your regular paint story
i only use the stuff that has been tested by DYC..
if you have some time check out this channel, it can answer all your qustions about dip.
there are a big amount of videos with a lott of good info
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsqsjtd902RLo8peD11olPw
if you knew anything you would know dip cant be shipped to the netherlands because its seen as a hazardous chemical.
so you can only buy it inside the eu like netherlands or belgium.. or other surounding erea..not from outside the eu.
take a look here for prices
https://www.plastidip.be/product-categorie/pearls/dyc-dip-pearls/colorshift-pearls/
do the math yourself.
2 gallon dip for base
2 gallon matte clear for the colour
(and if you want shiney finish you can add 1 gallon glossifier to if you want)
150 gram pearl colorshift
1 spraysystem earlex
1 degreaser
5 liters of thinner

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
i got them sandblasted trough a friend of pvdb because the chrome is realy difficult to get off (thanx again patrick )
put a couple of layers on them so i can start polishing the edges
as you can see they have about 1mm clearance with the sliding doors
if im done they will look like this
i am almost done with the bodywork to
you go from one thing to another.. in the beginning i just wanted to do the wheelarches
but before you know it there isnt a bodypart left untouched
had the bumpers of so undersealed behind the backbumper to
i even started to delete things like the antenna
why? i dont know ... looks a bitt better

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
my carry has the same size headlights as a vw golf 1 and 2
that means i can get a lot of different cool aftermarket headlights, and cheap to.
i could get
clear/chrome ones
angel eyes
iron cross
big iron cross
cross hair + angel eyes
these are just some examples, there are loads of different ones.
they all cost about 35-80 euros depending on model
i have bought a set of chrome crosshair ones with angel eyes.
turns out the company selling them were out of stock and they will take about 5 weeks to diliver.
i will post pics when fitted

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
Japanese version of an Iron Cross would be best, just like the rear window.
Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
that would be cool indeed but i dont think they exist.

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
i finaly plasti dipped the van matte white
it was a cool experiance using the plasti dip for the first time
as you can see it easily peels of
its basicly some sort of rubber
i could ,if i want to remove the whole dip from the van just like the handels.
it doesnt leave a trace and the paint underneath it stays intact
no sanding needed just verry good clean and degrease before dipping it
made some pictures from it
its not finished yet , i have to spray the bumpers/grill/headlightcovers etc black again to and some other small things
there is some texture on it but i dont mind that, thats what you get using plastidip.
i realy liked dipping the litle van.
although i would do some things different next time it was an interesting job.
i almost passed out spraying it it contains 50% thinner and i (ofcourse )just started spraying without decent aircirculation
after i opened some doors it was fine again.
and i didnt have enough dip.. some spot that i welded shine trough.
i should have bought more.. but its in the garage/storage now and i will drive it again next year march/april
(oldtimer rules regarding taxes, you get low costs but cant drive it dec jan feb. I only pay 45 euro taxes per year for the carry .. )
maybe i will put some extra layers on next year.
or now that i have the spaysytem i can just buy some different color and peel it and dip it again when and if i want to.

Looking good that Scotia, are you leaving it with the matt effect or going to put a glossiffier over it.....how much Plasti-Dip did you use on the van?

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
A different color every year would be a little expensive I guess?
Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
no not if you do basic colors.
red green black bleu orange grey white
if you stick with those, another job/color would cost me about 220euro.
but if you add glossifiers or colorshifts it would be around 700+ euro.
