Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
thanx for the welcome.
yes i should have kept them, i know.
it will be difficult to find some wheels for the litle hijet.
the other cars in the pictures have 1.6 applause engines to.
so we do have some experiance swapping the 1.3 to 1.6.
i have already seen loads of info and good ideas here, and i hope that you guys wil help me out so now and then.
there wil be a lot of changes to the litle hijet in a short time.
i will post everyting in my own topic and as you can see above i am kind of a pictureaddict
greetings from the netherlands

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
No, daiforum is the new one, where all the youngsters hang out.
This is the original and best Daihatsu tuning forum by along way:- http://daihard.eis.net.au/
All the original members are still there, but it about 10 years since they have sold their Daihatsu's.
It's mostly used for talking about DIY and politics nowadays, and taking the piss out of each other, but if you want good information there is loads and loads of real good stuff buried in there so use the search function.
But be-warned, if you post up, they take no prisoners! The piss taking that goes on in that forum is hardcore, no one gives a toss about feelings or offending anyone.
Drag racing, show cars, track day hero's, bodykits, boy racers and ricers are mocked and ripped apart. Real motorsport is highly appreaciated, and there is a wealth of tuning wisdom buried in that forum from back when these Daihatsu's were current.

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
i searched the forum for a couple of days but i can t find it im sorry
and the search engine here is not all that great..
so here are my questions for you guys
- why does a hijet engine have 20hp less then a standard 1.3 16v charade engine?
- did anybody remove their exhaust and replaced it with a sportexhaust or does someone has a good tip what to do..
- i bought a 1.3 16v charade engine and swap it in the hijet, i already did read a lot on here
on the sportak--hijet swap. i guess its the same story ...?
(i am not going to fit a 1.6 because i am going to take it across europe and dont want any hassle with police or something, and i came across a verry neat low miles charade engine so i bought that.)
- are the shocks the same as a different type of daihatsu ? are any other parts interchangeable with other daihatsus?
oh and i tried to join the daihard forum highly jetted but it just keeps on saying my emailadress isnt allowed and my password isnt allowed ..

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
I've been doing some searching recently and cant find any other cars with matching part numbers for the shocks, except piaggio porters, but they're the same thing anyway.
I'm looking into having custom made coilovers for mine at the moment, and after i've tested them, there's a possibility of making some more sets for other people

Horse power is not the aim of a commercial vehicle.
Daihatsu brought the torque curve further down the rev range.
The did this by using a different inlet manifold, cam profile, exhaust manifold and ECU.
It makes the vehicle capable of being driven when carrying a load.
It is a Charade engine in every part, except the cams and the manifolds, and ecu.
You cannot put the charade manifolds on the hijet because they will not fit in the space.
Daihard will not accept people with rubbish email accounts like gmail, hotmail, live, yahoo etc. Has to be a proper domain.
Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
ok thanx for the info people
i asked about the shocks because if they were charade shocks you could possibly make 2 cheap sets of front coilovers from a caddy or something..
you can als fit a mazda 323 coiloverset if you adjust them a litle bit.

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
I did come across a few shocks that certainly look very similar, but its hard to say without buying sets to compare

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project

Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
if somebody has some tips or something that would help..
feel free to do...
hijet engine and gearbox are out now.
i already did see that the holes of the charade engine vs the hijet gearbox doesnt fit
so i think i could only use the cilinderhead from the charade engine.
common guys help me out a litle please

I think just 1 bell housing bolt is missing, so you just ignore that
Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project

What help would you like? As nobody here has put a Charade engine in how can we help, there's a link to an engine conversion with the 4track engine but this seems not to suit? Maybe just me but I fail to see how to help someone when I know bugger all about what they're doing....

I think that was lost in translation.
Re: exhijet now suzuki carry project
Photos of what your doing helps, as then the next guy (just like you) have something to help them.
