Intermittent fault
I know this is a pain to diagnose but the van has a rubbing noise that only seems to be while doing left hand corners I have checked both front wheels for loose worn bearings and tried to move all the joints but I can't replicate it while not driving I have fount a possible cause and I will find out when I go out to pick Clare up but wouldn't mind anything else to check as I've run out of ideas if it's not what I found tonight.
Re: Intermittent fault
a worn or poor quality wheel bearing maybe? at a guess the passenger side one.
Re: Intermittent fault
That was my thought but they feel fine bearing in mind how many bearings I feel in a normal day.

Re: Intermittent fault
If they are shot they growl all the time and when just starting it's once they get warm. You can feel it when testing this is only on left handers even bouncing along loading/unloading the wheel it don't do it.
Re: Intermittent fault
I'm sure time will tell, it might get louder and start to do it all the time.
Might be something on the axle?

Re: Intermittent fault
Right what I had found it isn't which was a mud flap with a shiny rubbed patch that was cut off.
It does change to goes away with braking and the pads in the front right are rattly so I will apply some brake pad grease on Sunday as out all day tommorow then we will see if that changes anything.

Re: Intermittent fault
Right did 70 odd mile this morning not a peep of noise. What I forgot to say is it sounds a bit like a CV joint that's wornout on full lock.
Re: Intermittent fault
Hopefully I have got to the bottom of this it seems the hub is moving around on the stub axle so bearings tight and does not feel loose but it does move where it shouldn't so under load it moves about and eventually loosens the nut. Woody has come to the rescue and got one off today for me.
