help repairing small rust hole
Morning gents,
I've got a little mpv (Nissan Serena (same as Vanetter/LDV Cub)) that I'm converting into a weekend camper and I've been stripping it out and as expected there is a few little bits of rust (its old). This is the worst of it where there is a little hole in the rear corner.
Can you recommend some products to sorting this please? I understand you can get some kind of mesh that you put resin/fiberglass/filler over. Just not sure what to buy?
thanks alot
Rich

Yeah, oxygen, acetylene, welding rods, metal.....
Are the boltholes securing anything important?

The old 30cm MOT rule is the one to look after.
"any load bearing or supporting structure or supporting panelling within 30cm of the mounting location."

Its just passed an mot so thats not an immediate issue. I bought a fibreglass repair kit earlier will see how that turns out.

As a bodge I would recommend PU adhesive / sikaflex / tiger seal / windscreen bonding and some metal cut from an old car door, bonnet etc.
Same way they glue body panels to cars in the factory.

Re: help repairing small rust hole
I decided to get a proper job done so I'm getting a mates garage to cut out the bad and weld plates on both back corners this week.

Wise move if your about to fill the rear out with camper conversion! You'll never have easy access again.
