I HAVE BEEN INTO THINGS MECHANICAL SINCE I WAS A KID -MOTORBIKE AT 11 FIAT 600 AT 15, DRIVING MY DADS LORRIES AND TRACTORS ON HIS 4 NURSERIES IN BERKSHIRE, SURREY AND MIDDLESEX. GOT MARRIED AT 22 AND GOT MY HGV 3 THE SAME MONTH. MOVED TO THE ISLE OF WIGHT IN 1974 HGV 2 IN 1980 AND GOT MY GARAGE THE SAME YEAR AND NOW 33 YEARS LATER HAVE HAD IT FOR MORE THAN HALF MY LIFETIME. SPECIALISED IN FORDS FOR MANY YEARS AND WASGENERALLY KNOWN AS THE ORACLE OF FORDS ON THE ISLAND WITH EVEN THE MAIN DEALER COMING TO ME FOR SPARES AND ADVICE. GOT INTO SKODA ESTELLES, RAPIDS AND FAVORITS FOR A FEW YEARS AND THEN IN 2003 WENT TO WORK FOR ROMAHOME FOR TWO YEARS AND WITHIN 4 MONTHS MADE SERVICE AND WARRANTY MANAGER WHICH I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF . I WAS INVOLVED WITH THE LAST FIVE DEMOUNTABLE FREE SPIRIT HI-JET MOUNTED MICROVANS-- DELIVERING THE VERY LAST ONE TO A SOLICITOR IN MORDEN IN SURREY. SAD DAY THAT!! WE ALSO BUILT HUNDREDS OF HI-JET MEALS ON WHEELS VANS AND I WAS INVOLVED IN THE SERVICING OF THEM AROUND THE COUNTRY AND SLOWLY GOT HOOKED ON HI-JETS. IT WAS WHILE I WAS THERE THAT I BOUGHT MY FIRST ONE -- AN "S" REG 16V IN RED FROM MANCHESTER FOR £700 AND I STILL HAVE HER TODAY. I BOUGHT MY FIRST ROMAHOME THAT YEAR TOO --A 1983 HONDA ACTY-- ONE LADY OWNER FROM NEW WITH 49000 MILES ON THE CLOCK AND IT TOOK ME ALL OVER DEVON AND CORNWALL ON HOLIDAYS FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS TILL I SOLD IT IN 2005 TO A MAN FROM THE SOUTH OF FRANCE FOR £3750- HE FLEW OVER AND DROVE IT BACK TO THE FRENCH RIVIERA. ON ONE OCCASION I GOT 82MPH OUT OF IT GOING DOWNNHILL ON THE A30 AT OKEHAMPTON. YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE DISBELIEF ON PEOPLES FACES AS I WENT STEAMING PAST THEM. GREAT FUN. I HAVE CURRENTLY GOT 11 HI-JETS ( 3 MPVS 2 VANS 3 PICK-UPS AND 2 TIPPERS AND A ROMAHOME PLUS 4 I AM BREAKING UP FOR SPARES . I HAVE 4 HONDA ACTYS --3 WITH ROMAHOME BODYS ON BUT THEY LOOK PRETTY AWFUL AS THE FIBREGLASS GETS FILTH BUT THEY CLEAN UP BEAUTIFULLY. I HAVE BROKEN LOADS OF HONDAS AND HAVE A LOT OF SPARES PLUS HAVE BROKEN 4 HI-JETS TOO BUT TEND TO HANG ON TO PARTS TO KEEP MY OWN ONES GOING PLUS THE ONES I AM BUYING AND SELLING.OH YES JUST BOUGHT A "T" REG GRAN MOVE 1600 IN VGC BUT BOUGHT IT FOR THE 1600 ENGINE TO PUT INTO ONE OF MY PICKUPS. RIGHT I WILL TRY TO DOWNLOAD SOME PICTURES OF MY FLEET BUT HAVE STILL A COUPLE OF PHOTOS TO TAKE YET AND WILL POST THEM ASAP. THANKS ONCE AGAIN FOR THE FRIENDLY WELCOME. ITS 1-30AM AND I HAVE GOT TO BE UP AT 630AM SO WILL TRY AGAIN TONIGHT. NOT SO EASY-PEASY AFTER ALL LOGI.!!!

i found it logi and superglued it down. this doesnt look right without caps in it. not good english --- but being scottish i suppose -------

I just cant get the hang of downloading the pictures on this site. No problems on E-bay or Wight-Bay( here on the Island ) but just cant get it right on here. Looked at Leopard Pagans destructions but still no joy.
Will see if Gayle can fathom it out when she gets home a bit later.

No PFM she doesnt share my obsession of Hi-Jets but she does prefer driving the 03 Metalic blue MPV to her Fiesta --- stop cheering everyone--- but she does try and nick my Zetec 2000 Focus saloon when she can and she is just as well at home in the pick-ups too.

I spent ages until 1-30am this morning finding my Hi-Jet pictures ( I have got over 7000 photos on my laptop ) so I will make a folder to put all the Hi-Jet piccies in -- makes sense as it takes ages trolling through each months folders.

Look HJ --- paragraphs !!! Thats much better isnt it. Computers arent in my blood -- but theres much of my blood in this laptop.

Right I will post this and have a go AGAIN at beating this damn thing -- but first a bottle of Magners ---- well away from the laptop I might ad. Woody 50.

Thanks ever so much Logi and HJ. Was losing my patience with it due to lack of sleep. I moved house on Friday and I have only had about 8 hrs sleep in the past 4 nights. Was a particularly traumatic affair with the buyer negotiating to buy the Hotel for the past 20 months and how I havent decked him before now I dont know ---- must be getting patient in my old age --

The move back here to Niton was straightforward enough as its been our home for well over 3 years. . The nightmare was the sale of the Hotel should have gone through on 19th December and we have had 8 dates to move since then, with the buyer mucking us and solicitors about. Anyway, its sold and we are back home at last.

The product we use for flat roofs is called Alwitra and is hot-air welded together--- my mig doesn't work too well on it !! Fantastic product -- guaranteed for a minimum of 15years. Never touch felt. It's a waste of some-ones hard earned cash.

Those plastic/rubber membranes are a million times better than felt. The weather in this country is just too variable to keep felt alive.
