Heater core: I don't have one
I just bought a 92 Daihatsu dump with a plow. No heater. If I buy a new core, I don't know where it should be mounted. The fan and controls are there; the hoses are connected under the cab. making a loop back to the engine. Are there any diagrams showing the heater and hoses?
Thanks

It goes in the middle of the dash would be wise to check the levers operate the valve which is behind the rad.

The heater matrix is inside the grey/white plastic fan/heater box under the dash. I have one that doesn't leak including all the fan etc spare. The hoses and control valve is under the grill behind the radiator.
The hoses should not be connected to loop though if you removed the heater as it will allow the coolant to bypass the radiator more easily. I would replace the heater matrix and valves etc as it may one day start overheating the way it is at the moment.
Glad you found the forum, all the best,

heater core
I don't know if I'm doing this correctly, but here goes. The fan and controls are there. The temp control is loose and not connected to anything. I'm guessing that a previous owner just removed the heater core and looped the hoses. But, is it possible that the core I see in the AC unit is also the heater core? As you can see, I'm no mechanic.

Re: Heater core: I don't have one
Try again mate, it's easy when you get it.
Just click the icon above the text entry box with a picture of a floppy disk in front of a picture.
Click choose file, pick your image, then click host it.
Another page will turn up after a few seconds
Then click the 2nd copy button - next to "Image:"
Then paste it into the text box.
To get rid of the image hosting window click the floppy disk picture icon again.
I'm sure with a few pictures of what you've got at the moment will soon get us to direct you to what you should have.
So far, nobody on here has turned up with a hijet that has Air Conditioning, but it was an optional extra.

I tried it once and then lost it. And never would have figured out how to do it without your instruction.

The black grille at the top is the blower outlet. The gray enclosure at left is the housing for the AC. I sure appreciate your help on this.

Sounds to me as you have a proper Hijet rather than a cheap Italy copy, are you in the UK or US

Maybe discus this on minitruck talk:-

We have different hijets to you guys over there in America as you have proper Japanese import jobbies while we, as d1noh says, are made in Italy and as such are very different beasts.

Re: Heater core: I don't have one
I guess that means you're in the UK, and yes, I'm in NEW Hampshire. Oh well...But thanks for the input anyway. I'm learning a lot about these things.

Yes, most of us are in the UK but not all. Fraid you won't find much on here about your version of the Hijet but do keep us updated on your progress and other issues that will, inevitably, come up.

Thanks for the input, and your suggestion about the mini-truck forum may be of help. We'll see. I like the truck, but will surely freeze my tail off if I don't have a heater. It can occasionally get down to -0 F around here.
Thanks again
