Engine won't fire Empty Engine won't fire

Post by Verathevan Wed Dec 07, 2011 4:52 pm

Just had head skimmed for second time and refitted with new head gasket. Put the whole thing back together again and now it won't start or ever fire. Checked the timing again and again and satified that its spot on, have checked for a spark and checked that there aren't any stray wires etc. Really frustrated as van in very good condition and normally very reliable. If I can't get her started the only alternative is to scrap the van.

Any good bits on it? Twisted Evil

I'm guessing you've done a compression check, and it's getting fuel? Timing's not 180 out?

Hi you say you have checked for spark so assuming you have sparks then I would go for timing mis alignment may not be to far out I have had ours far enough that you need to rotate the dizzy to the stop to get it to run but always ran rough.

Thanks for responses and the answer was obvious!! A skim to many I afraid. Now the proud owner of a Hijet with 8 bent valves. Van now for sale , either srap or spares. 1996, 1.0,. only 60k on clock so rest of van in really good condition. no rust etc. Any reasonable offer considered. Location near Portsmouth.

OK! I meant 6 bent valves.
Perhaps thats the problem - too many valves in a three cylinder engine
