Removing crank pulley Empty Removing crank pulley

I am having some difficulty, is it really just "pull harder"?

I removed the 4 bolts and knocked it with a rubber mallet, it seems to have a slight wobble but wont slip off.

I tried with a puller but that seems to pull the timing belt's toothed wheel with it.

Do I have to somehow remove the square-tabbed washer?

center bolt stays in... maybe thats why the sprocket wants to come off

Well spotted Cool Jet. As soon as I saw the picture I realised the deliberate mistake.

At least as much as the photo I took with the centre bolt removed Smile

I got the pulley off easily now, so I have moved onto the next stage.

Unfortunately the bottom timing cover bolt sheered off Rolling Eyes

And I can't see how to remove the last water pump bolt behind the tensioner pulley bracket - perhaps I need to take the tension off, presume it will move out of the way.

I also noticed it has a genuine Daihatsu branded timing belt - does that mean its never been changed? .. or it was replaced at a garage where they buy genuine parts, perhaps - how likely is that?

There are people out there who can afford second Mortgage on a Daihatsu Dealers Invoice. Not this kiddy though.

PS: Where do I get a new oil pressure switch connector, with the slides wivel/bayonet style. Its difficult when you don't know the name of them!

You need a RED preferably Crimp on, (Blue 6.3. will do) Unsheathed 6.3mm Female Spade so it slide over the Mushroom Head of the Oil Pressure Switch.

I think I get it now - the 6.3mm spade connector also fits securely and is an acceptable retrofit.
