Rear wheel bearing
Hi the mot failure on my van needed a rear wheel bearing and collar which the garage ordered from Daihatsu in Japan about a month ago. Sadly still no sign of it and they are getting bored looking at the van in their car park. Does anyone know where I can get one quickly please in the uk at not too crazy money ? Any help would be most welcome. Tim

Re: Rear wheel bearing
Why Japan direct?, Knightcott motors or any good Daihatsu dealer should be able to supply them, I have heard they can be expensive.

Re: Rear wheel bearing
Thanks for the tip, I've tried Knightcott this morning but no luck as yet , my garage tried a couple of main dealers and drew a blank so they ordered from Japan direct.

Re: Rear wheel bearing
Never done one myself. Always had a choice of dozens of axles fortunately. D1noh has changed them and they are a "Bar-Steward" according to him. They are I believe held on with a collar so he cuts the end off an old axle casing to get at the part he needs.
Can't quite get my head round it. Ford ones I used to do had to be pushed off in a 10 ton Hydraulic press. Send him a Private Message and don't tell him I told you or it will be "For Who'm The Bell Tolled" for you.

Re: Rear wheel bearing
Hi, thanks for the advice , in the end I've gone for a half shaft with bearing attached from 16000 mile van, £120 delivered from Knightcott . It sounds like less hassle than wrestling the old one off .

Re: Rear wheel bearing
Apart from the fact that I would have done it for £50 + carriage. ALWAYS ASK UNCLE WOODY FIRST. If I can help out then I will. I will let you know if I can't and you can look elsewhere.
