Good luck with them, I had a pig of a job getting it through the MOT due to rear brake problems. Email www.hijetparts.co.uk. He sorted me out at a great price and quick delivery.

Wheel cylinders are about £18 each from euro car parts. I have just MOT'd 2 vans, they both failed on rear brake effort. Neither needed shoes, drums, a wheel cylinder or an LSPV

Simply by freeing the up arm, and adding tension to the spring using a spacer under the bottom cup on the rod. The rear brakes then work. The cause of fault is the arm pivot going stiff, and the springs getting rusted and weak.

I must have had getting close to 20 fail sheets for lack of rear brake effort. Yet they have never needed any parts replacing.

The other most common failure item is corroded rear brake pipes. I hate doing brake pipes, but at least its cheap as the materials are just universal copper brake pipe and flare nuts.

I get a phone call a week requesting an LSPV. Sometimes owners, sometimes garages.

I'm trying to persuade my mechanic to have a go at freeing mine up or as suggested on another thread. Standard response in most cases is "get a new one". Little do they know.... Smile

The bleed valve and be of the flare nuts is stripped...
Making it very hard to bleed. Suggestions?

If it's on a cylinder just replace it, saves a load of aggro

Firsly you make it the problem of the moron that stripped it in the first place.

And if they fails you find someone who surpasses the 2.5 braincell barrier to resolve it.

Patronising mode off.

Flare nuts undo if you warm them up then get them with high quality mole grips. Non of those chinese or cheapo wank ones. This is a one shot purchase game, every time you fail to undo it and chew it up more, the lower the chances of getting it out in one piece is.

Broken bleed nipples come out again if you heat them up till they cherry, then either bite the remained with mole grips, and if they are totally sheered you gently try using easy outs.

The worst possible outcome is snapping an easy-out in the hole. Cos you can't drill those bastards as they are very hard. A fool with a set of easy-outs is a dangerous thing. The user must know their limits.

If that fails you have to drill and heli-coil.

Before you do any of this stuff, you wire brush it all back and keep soaking it with plusgas for as many hours before hand as possible.

Any garage worth using will know all this school boy stuff.

The guy who stripped it is a terrifying man from Liverpool... I value life so I'll leave him alone...

Thanks for the tips!! It's already been soaking in lube for days, will purchase some nice vice grips and giv'r a go ( as we say where I'm from).

Also, I cut the brake pipe to the flare nut I am trying to undo.

Then if possible I hammer a socket onto it, a size smaller, sometime imperial.
