hijet pick up 2001

hi all any help my 1.3 hijet the one with the 2 coils keeps missing underload eng man light comes on stays on for a few seconds and of again it will miss and hold back for a few seconds at a time then be ok again can go for miles and it stops then starts again any one any idea what it could be thanks phil

Try a new speedo head. It sounds like the speed sensor in the speedo head has given up the ghost. It sends speed info to the ECU which meters the fuel. If the engine cuts and just ticks over and won't respond to the throttle pedal and after 10 seconds up to a couple of minutes then resumes normal running for a while or if you stay under 35-40 mph you don't get the problem it is the speed sensor. I have got complete instrument clusters Phil.

But sorry Phil I haven't got one with only 5,500 miles on it my friend.

thanks stuart it doesnt cut out it starts and runs sounds fine its only doing it when underload if that makes sence it will do it for a we while then stop can go for miles and its fine then it starts doing it again
