What engine is that?
Hi
Bought 1998 Hijet couple of days ago, and until viewing of it I didnt know that genuine engine was overheated last year in summer and owner bought used 1.3 unit from "east london garage" for 350 pounds and had it fitted somewhere else for another 350 quid. (https://hijet.forumotion.com/t3796-maybe-im-sick)
Back to the problem
Im not sure if that engine is an 1998 Daihatsu engine or maybe newer, what do i need to look for to indentify that
Ive got this photo as a first clue
I need to know what year it is so i could buy right parts from shops like Parkers etc.

Re: What engine is that?
i think they all have the same 1.3 hce-s engine.
its basicly a charade engine on its side with some different parts like sump/ecu/etc etc
the picture is the altenator.. you do realize that dont you?
i have a lot of info and files collected from here and other sites.
things like workshop manuals and brochures
take a look.. you can download it if you want

Re: What engine is that?
That label would only relate to the alternator which may, or may not, be original to the engine or the van. Engine no. might be more useful, but I think they're pretty similar throughout the run except for coil-packs - originally 1 per plug but later 1 between 2. Woodie or HJ would know for sure.

I bought auxiliary belt according to Reg plate and it was perfect fit, so im happy with what it is. Now Ive got this problem, cold engine = lumpy revs. Also sometimes when accelerating faster, ill have a sudden break in the power, letting gas pedal of helps straight away
