Hi and question?
Hi everyone, new to the site, currently own 2 hijet's, a blue 1.3 standard one and the A Team van engine swaps is my topic up for discussion atm, I've done a quick search and nothings come up with this particular swap, I know the hijet has a tilted engine ( I'm no mechanic) just an avid tinkerer, any chance the 1.3 turbo engine from a yrv would be a possible swap? Same block? Engine positioning? Etc no idea? Apologies if I'm breaching etuquite by saying hi and asking a question in the same post by the way.
Re: Hi and question?
No problem saying hi and asking a question, in answer to your question anything is possible...if you have the time and money! As for specifics...no idea but welcome. I would change your username to something other than your email address though.

welcome
there is a lot of info on the 1.6 conversion.

thats the only swap that is realistic and affordable

Re: Hi and question?
Welcome Tony. Where abouts in Cornwall are you? Bude has been my favourite place since childhood.
The YRV engine is totally different. It is a Toyota chain drive camshaft engine the predecessor to the VVTI Engine. As Scotia says, the 1600 engine with 94bhp or the 1500 with 90bhp is the most straightforward swap. But even with them it is quite a bit of work. I have several 1600 engines and could be persuaded to part with one.

Re: Hi and question?
Cheers for the warm welcome time is the main issue as i use it for my daily driver works van, although it gets called many other things so the yrv is definitely out then, I would probably go for the 1600 tbh as the main issue currently is the lack of power in the slightest breeze or incline with a boot full of tools, so the extra torque would be a welcome addition, I've had a brief read about the 1.6 conversion, and it doesn't seem too helkish. Woodie I lived in bude for about a year after moving down here, currently living in wadebridge tho, Cornwall is such a beautiful place, I love it down here.
