Part numbers anyone

Looking for part number for seals one beside gearbox and back end please.

Give us a better description of these seals, and exactly which Hijet model etc.

It's 1996 993cc hijet. Seals for back break cylinder and gearbox seal where prop goes in.

If it's a wheel cylinder seal you're talking about(though shouldn't be if it's just been MOT'd?) you're as well getting new cylinders. If it's the lspv leaking you're in a whole world of pain(again, can't be if just MOT'd)

Well if the rear wheel cylinders are leaking, presumably the Brake Shoes are contaminated, so how did it get an Mot?

Way, way back in the mists of time such items as brake cylinder seals did have their own part Nos and had to be ordered individually. Later, you ordered a kit for each cylinder but now even that is rare and you have to order the complete item. Should be a No for that gearbox seal but I don't think I have a catalogue. Yes, I used to be a parts manager and yes, I am that sad that I can even remember Nos like the Rover fuel filter (604148 if anyone's remotely interested)

Logi has come up with some stonking deals off Ebay PFM. So good I am going to order 10 cylinders for stock. With the length of time some of my vans have been standing I am sure to need several.

As far as I know it's the seals leaking not the cylinder. I'm going to have a look though and can be handy in the future to do the same as you woody as never know when you need them and especially at a good price. The van was a cheap buy and I expected small things to be renewed so now I have it i want to do get these done.It didn't fail on much at all. Problems will obviously occur no matter what you get.

The seals are on the piston IN the cylinder Debz. They get worn out and leak out into the brake drum and contaminate the brake shoes.
First thing in the morning check out the brake fluid level. If it is below the low level marks don't drive it. Wait and get the cylinders Logi has posted. And you will almost certainly need brake shoes. I don't understand how if it's that bad how it got through the Mot.

woody all the work was done on van just cosmetic I'm not too worried. I know eventually these parts will be needed so just better to buy so I have them

The Metalastick rear seal is a tight fit in the end of the tailshaft. Use a screwdriver and a hammer to remove it. Getting the seal from Daihatsu will be expensive. There are companies that specialize in selling oil seals and can sort them out by the original dimensions but you would need to find out the dimensions first from Daihatsu or a parts manual. Not something that I have experience of.

I'm pretty sure that when I bought mine they weren't handed? I may be wrong cos my memory is shit tho
If you can get the part number off the old seal bearing suppliers can usually source one( not the Daishitsu number but the actual seal number)
And to echo Woody, change the shoes, you can clean them up with brake cleaner but if they're contaminated the heat will pull the brake fluid in them to the surface again.

At the price of the Cylinders you have found Logi, it's not worth mucking about with seal kits.
