odd idle speed Empty odd idle speed

Post by leopard_pagan Fri Jan 28, 2011 6:28 pm

got two odd things happening on my wee van.

in the mornings i am finding the choke running higher than usual in the first 2-3 minuets from cold start.
after the vans all warmed up and i am getting near/to work/home, the idle speed starts revving high, then drops, then high and drops again but as soon as i engage the gears/clutch and pull away the idle stays steady. only does it when stood still waiting in traffic or just as i pull up to park.

any ideas what i need to start poking n prodding?

so contenders are:
Automatic choke
Idle speed sensor
Lamber sensor?

mines a EFI model.

water levels are fine, if anything the over flow bottles a bit over the line.

located the throttle sensor under driver seat.
just need to locate the auto choke to check it.

OK - and I take it you checked at the radiator as well. Sorry can't offer anything further - I've only had the same symptoms when water level has been low.

It hasn't got a auto choke its EFI, there is a cold idle circuit that is controled by the temp sensor and ECU check the plug by the dizzy make sure its clean and dry.

no auto choke.... well that explains why i cant find one in the manuals or any ref to one..lol just put it down to crappy manuals!

will route around the dizzy area tomorrow lunchtime checking plugs n things.
i do know my sodding cyl 2 HT lead keeps on dropping off the spark plug! i lost count how many times i fitted/removed the plugs a few months ago while doing the head job! and i couldent get the pliers in to bend the tube inside! couldnt bend from out side as hands arent strong enuf!... need a burly man for that job!
