993 radiator please Empty 993 radiator please

Post by chinfuk Tue Aug 04, 2015 11:43 am

Hi, my jet is over heating, flushed the system, got the head tested and they checked the cooling system and said all seamed well. I'm missing lots of my cooling fins so that must be the culprit. Tried to get mine recored but they said it won't stand up to it. They did say they can get a new one (somehow I thought they stopped making them) for the grand sum of 185 quid.

Don't suppose anyone has one they could sell me please, im near Stoke on Trent.

To rub salt in, I missed one on eBay the other week that went for £30 doh.

Would consider breaking or selling if anyone is interested

Thanks

Is the radiator the same as the 1300?
If so, I've got a used one that I kept as a spare.

I don't think they are the same, as the pipes are in different places. One the 993 there is one on the top and one on the bottom, and I believe on the 1.3 they are both on the bottom, but maybe it would work with a bit of jigging about?

Hopefully someone will know on here :-)

Thanks for the reply!

I will look at home for that old 993cc one, I know it needs re-coring but I will check it out.

I have had 4 or 5 of these 993cc rads re-cored for about £110 ish.

I couldn't find any new 993cc replacement radiators on the market a year ago.

Yeah 110 is what they would charge to recore but said it was a waste of time.  I think i will take the plunge and buy a new one. I just hope it fixes the over heating issue or I will be crying into my (very cheap) beer :-) thanks for the replies

I have just dug out my old spare battered 993cc radiator.

They have plastic end caps like any modern radiator and I see zero disadvantage in re-coring it, unless the radiator filler cap is knackard.

I tried to buy one of those NRF 52123 radiators last year for a customer and there was no stock available anywhere I tried in the UK, one place took my order and payment, then a week later refunded me as they could not actually get one. If they are available now, then that is awesome.

Suggest you try a different rad repairer, Chin - I had 2 done locally with no problems.
